Does anyone know if the reduced rate on property tax will be extended into the new year?

There are rumours that this will happen. There are also rumours that the Government is going to reduce the tax payable on the first house purchased to 0.75% indefinitely. They've obviously, at last, woken up to the fact that very high taxes on transfer of title deeds means no money in the TRNC coffers.

Please don't quote the rumours as facts though. Just watch this space.

With the housing market struggling its highly unlikely that the Government will not extend the lower rate-------also dont forget there is an election soon.

Naomi Mehmet emailed me today "We understand that the deadline for completing transfers at the reduced rate of tax has been extended for a further 6 months."

Why not ask your own advocate - mine seems certain about it.

Apparently the Ankara has not allowed the extension, this is what I was told yesterday but it is very likely that this will change in a week or two..
