Wow... I wish I'd have known about this petition before as I'm sure my signature would have turned the whole thing on its head!!! ;) Seriously though... I cannot wait for a turnabout on this legislation - it just seems sooooo ridiculous!! I understand the explanation provided but it is very frustrating... Thanks for the information barnaclebill...!

I signed the petition. Interesting if the EU does not recognise the North and the UK follows suit like lapdogs (sorry about the pun). Why is it the UK and EU involved in the Orams case? The only countries that do not recognise the North Cyprus Pet Pasport scheme are the UK, Northern Ireland and Sweden. Our dog came back to France from the TRNC with no problems. Although he did have a TRNC Pet Passport at no time during the trip was any documentation asked for. Our route was. Ercan, Istanbul, Paris with Turkish airlines in 2006. On arrival in Paris his crate was put alongside the baggage belt....... I put the dog and crate on a trolley and walked through customs. The EU law is an ass but as we all know.... Gordon Gold Stamps al EU directives. AP

The UK. quotes EU regulations as & when it suits. I signed the petition but sadly, I knew it would be a waste of time, just like it's a waste of time signing petitions for non stop flights to & from the UK. Surely they can see how ridiculous it is to change the arrangements for TRNC pet passport after 30 years, in 2004, because it wouldn't be fair to other countries where animals have to go into UK. quarantine. The answer to this problem would be to look at rules governing all countries but that aint going to happen.

It`s crazy. How do the silly people at DEFRA know that the pets allowed into Britain from the south side, have not come over the mountain from our side!!!!!! Purely politics.

According to Defra if you have a pet passport and all your injections paperwork are uptodate you can take your dog thru the South back to the UK. So if you brought your pet from the UK all documentation in order into Larnaca then across the border into the North satisfy the regulations in the North ,then provided you keep everything uptodate you will be able to get them back to the uk via the South when and if the time comes Thats what they told me unfortunatley my dog was a rescue from here therefore she at the moment is in quarintine in the UK. I wonder if the customs on the other side would honour the EU regs methinks not.

I thought that no animals are allowed either from South to North or North to South, whether they have a pet passpot or not. Defra might not know about the the rules at the crossing, how they change according to the weather.

Re msg 13: Does anybody know if it is possible to bring pets in through Larnaca using the pet passport scheme, and then over the Green Line into TRNC? Would the pets still have to do quarantine when they arrive in TRNC?

If your animal has a pet passport originally issued in the UK you could get it back again by flying Turkish Airlines into Paris, getting a vet check and within 24 hours travel to the UK. Note though that you need to have a UK issued pet passport and I know this can be done this way. Have a word with KAR they have all the up to date info.
