| "Although this topic is not specifically about north Cyprus we at NCFP feel that as some members of Cyprus44 feel the need to discuss whether radical Muslims should be allowed to demonstrate about the deaths of Muslims at the hands of British troops in Afghanistan then they can do it here. Personally I believe that the whole event is a publicity stunt to get Brits to fall into the trap of expressing racist views about a demonstration which will never take place, allowing the group to recruit a few more disgruntled Muslims who are upset by any racism directed at them personally..." | Lilli, according to the UK Times, so far islam4uk have not even applied for permission to march. Apparently they do this kind of thing every now and then but often do not go through with the demonstration because they don't have much support in the Muslim community. I'm not sure why everyone is accusing Cyp44 of banning free speech, usually NCFP gets a good response to controversial topics but so far there is very little interest in commenting on this topic. I didn't read the closed topic but it seems more likely it deteriorated into a slanging match unrelated to the subject. Pity Cyp44 doesn't have the facility to put these members' posts on hold, as we do on NCFP, to check what is being said. The difference between freedom to speak and freedom from verbal bullying is a fine line. |

| It will not go ahead, it is all for publicity and so this idiot can get on the TV to spread his hatred. |

| thanks gooligan, the pages seem to show that, instead of discussing the proposed march, some members were reverting to what used to be called "flaming" and this was always dealt with by banning members after they ignored warnings. Pity the tread had to be closed but at least it is open again. |
