Residency....A question for you enlightened ones

We are contemplating and extended holiday later in the year, however our 4th residency is due while we plan to be away. Does anyone know if we can apply for residency 3 weeks early or 2 weeks late. If yes then are there any penalties to pay

I noticed in police station in Girne,when I took my friend over for their redidency that "you must apply 1 month before you run out.However,he was late to apply,and nothing was said about that.



I did ask,if there would be any problem when croosing to south,and they said no.He has been to south and on return they gave him 90 days wisa.



Perhaps,better to apply early.

Then again,I am Cypriot,what would I know!!

I went on Monday, mine runs out 30th January, I also noticed on the door is says 30 -15 days before should apply. So you are fine 4 weeks before. Not sure about doing it after you come back, I think you would get a 90 day visa when you came in and then you should apply asap. I think it is better to get it done before.

As others have said you can start the application early now. it doesn't then matter if you leave the country before the stamp is in your passport. Once you have applied then that is enough.

It's taken years for them to see the light & allow for early application. Once upon a time you could not apply earlier than 1 day before your residency expired. This obviously caused problems for people if they were going away. I could never understand why they were so rigid in the past. This resulted in receiving the fee much later..

My temp residency was due on the 23rd December, when I returned from a visit down south on the 17th Dec they asked if I had re applied I confirmed with them that I did this about the 9th Dec, they told me that if it was not through by the 23rd Dec they would give me a 7 day visa if I needed to cross over again.
