We will be looking to buy alot of shrubs etc., in the next few months, and wondered if anyone can recommend anywhere, for quality and price. Our villa is in Esentepe, however will look anywhere in the North. Thanks

Jayne, dont be afraid to ask friends and neighbours for cuttings and think about putting in some Cacti which can look stunning in Cyprus gardens. They are relatively cheap are easy to maintain. If you would like some Agaves I have some nice examples going free. Tony

We first went around gardens in our area and took pictures of any plants that we fancied then the garden centres ie Green Garden, Gardens of Babel and asked lots of questions, made notes, showed our pictures and then before we bought any we headed off to Guzelyurt and bought what we could there at the government centre, which incidentally is where most of the garden centres buy their plants, trees and shrubs from. They are at a fixed price and generally if you buy quite a bit they will throw in a couple of things as well. They will not deliver so make sure you go with something that can carry alot of plants etc.

Jayne - A couple of tips - There is a lorry which parks on the coast road near the Malpas hotel and sells fruit trees for around 11 - 15 YTL. Ardic Garden centre is also good, in the same vicinity. You might also want to check out the market on Wednesday in Girne, we have often picked up some nice plants there. I also agree with Tony, cuttings take very easily and in Cyprus the plants grow at 6x the rate as the UK provided they are watered !

Jayne62, If you mean the one opposite the power station, I have used them. They have a wide selection of shrubs and plants but are more expensive than other garden centres in the village of Esentepe. Mustafa will advise you if you go and see him. I have been told there is another garden centre in the village where there is a restaurant Nr the childrens play area. The butlers wife
