waterproofing roof terrace

Hi guys



I'm looking to waterproof my roof terrace. It's tiled but like all building work in TRNC not very well. I reckon it could leak so want to put some protection down. My first thought is THOMPSON WATERSEAL. Do they do this in TRNC or an equivalent?



Also, could anyone reccomend an good quality exterior masonary paint?

Hi Colin, I also have a roof terrace and last winter i had nine leaks through the roof showing on my ceiling. I went to Marshals in Girne and told them that i wanted to weatherproof ceramic tiles on the roof terrace, and they told me to prime the roof first with pva/water solution, then coat the roof with their product, which from memory was called ' isolation ' which worked well. After i flooded the roof with about 2" of standing water for three days, i had no sign of any more leaks. Then i got some ' astroturf ' and laid that on top of the roof, which looks great, reduces heat transfer into the lounge in the summer and maybe keeps a bit of heat in during the winter. They also sell silicon based paint for outdoors.

Got the astroturf from Tolgas out towards Lapta, i think it worked out at about £20 per square meter.

Here is a video of a large roof terrace above my shop in catalkoy that had so many leaks.the company did the work on the understanding that the owner wouldnt pay for the work done until he checked to see if it had been water proofed and no more leaks..the roof was filled with 6 inches of water and left overnight..no leaks.

Hi Pipie. also once the the owner had tested for leaks and there was none.the whole roof was then painted with a silver reflective paint .

i will post a contact number shortly,just contacting the owner of the shop for the number.
