Easy job too. Done it at work on office windows. The film is cut to size and then floated on to the window with a soapy water solution. Really good stuff and works a treat.

All this 'stick it on yourself' stuff generally ends up a disaster, with creases and air bubbles everywhere!

the correct way to do it is deglaze the unit clean it and apply the film whilst the unit is flat no bubbles or streaks it looks like factory tinted glass.

On the contrary. This type of film is put on as I said - floated on with soapy water and not stuck on. It's not like stick on fablon rubbish which is a pain. Just roller out the film ( small gloss paint roller) to expel the air and as the water evaporates it sticks firm. It is thicker than fablon stuff too so you don't get creases.

I looked into this in the past, one of the problems I think is that the film goes on the inside of the window/door etc and the reflected heat can cause solar shock in the glass and cause it to crack. If the glazing modern this may not be a problem. One other benefit is that some films claim to keep heat in during the cooler months. The films come with various options i.e. they can keep out most of the heat but then it will not let in much light so the trick is to find the happy medium between the two. If you don't have much of a view you may be ok with a very dark or reflective film.
