I've seen comments on here at different times about auctions. Can anyone tell me when they are. I've seen the web page for Amanda's but it's out of date. How often do they happen? And, is there another one at the other end of town too?

Oh, and, have I read right - whatever you bid on, you need to expect something like 26% to be added on top of your bill in taxes? Just seemed a bit steep!!

Hi Pippie, Amandas usually takes place every other Sunday. Viewing Fri. & Sat. Brochures 3tl. If you are buying, 15% commission is added to the hammer price, even if you don't want the hammer. (before anyone else asks) If you are selling, 15% commission is deducted from the amount bid. Prices in sterling.

At Lambousa, the auctions aren't as regular. Sometimes they are spread over 2 days, Sat & Sun. There is no commission payable by buyers, the hammer price is the full price. Almost all goods have a stated reserve and priced in TL. Brochures are 3tl and viewing is usually Sat

Many thanks Tony.

I've guessed then that Amanda's will be in a couple of weeks time. Anyone know when the next one is happening at Lambousa - does it get advertised?

Thanks.

Dont forget to add kdv on top of hammer charge (not sure how much it is) at Amanda`s, but not at Lambousa.

The website says 13.5% on top of hammer charge + 16% of hammer charge is KDV. That amounts to 15.6%. I read it wrong when I first wrote my query - re-read it this morning now I'm more awake!!

In reply to these queries, Amanda's charges 14% hammer charge plus 16% KDV purely on the hammer when one is buying, vendors pay 15% which includes the KDV. The government collect KDV from every registered company which is why Amanda's charge it. The tax office have stated that there is no KDV charged on 2nd hand goods but all registered Auctions conducting business in the TRNC have to charge KDV on a commission which also has to be charged by law !

Dozza, is that for the auction at Lambousa? Is so, where will it be, and what time - is that at Chateau Lambousa (don't know that area).

John, never sold anything at Lambousa, only bought so not sure of hammer charge.

Beebop, I know Amandas is 14% plus vat on the commission, said 15% as seemed easier.

Pippie, Lambousa auction is downstairs at Chateau Lambousa, lots are much easier to inspect than Amandas (Adolfs) Two day sale usually lots 1 to 125 Sat and 126 up Sun.

Amandas 10-00am start

Lambousa 11-00 approx.
