Looking at several different options for travel and was just wondering what CTA's service from Istanbul to Ercan was like. Is it reliable, ie on time, or is it a bit haphazard. Would greatly appreciate hearing peoples thoughts. I can fly with BA Newcastle/Heathrow/Istanbul but have to arrange separate flight into Ercan.

The best option would be to get a flexible coach ticket from New Castle to Manchester Airport and then get a Turkish Airlines flights to Ercan.

I know what the Manchester Ercan flights are like with Turkish Airlines, I did it last time. I am just investigating other options.

Cliff - you can get both CTA & Turkish flights from Istanbul (IST) to Ercan. From experience try to avoid Monday and Friday as many businessmen have prebooked the routes well in advance. At IAH / flightholiday we can hold options for you on either route as well as flights from SAW to ECN too.

Msg4, is that Thomas Cook price including all the extras? Jet2 quote some wonderful prices from Leeds but when you add all the extras the total is more expensive than going scheduled. Mountain Edge, you would have to collect your bags at Istanbul then check in again for the CTA flight, so allow yourself plenty of time for the connection.

Cliff what flights can you get to sunny Stansted - as from there we can offer a lot of flights on three airlines with or without further changes on your way to elegant Ercan. If you want prices and more information please take it off board info@flightholiday.co.uk

Easyjet to stanstead with a four hour wait for either Pegasus or CTa. Leave NCL about 7am Stanstead leave about 12-45 arrive Ercan about 9-30 on way out. Problem with return as flight arrives at 12-15 stanstead but leaves much later for connection to newcastle. Another way out Fly be to gatwicl 6015 then Easy jet to Larnaca leaving between 11-15 and 14-30 dependinfg on day. Return gets late into Gatwick but Cheap stay in travel Lodge over night and choic e of lfights next morning. PS If Easyjet flight is pm then there is a 10-30 Fly be to LGW. Trying NCL LGW Lca this time with Return ERcan Manchester with Train from manchester with transpennine. Only £15 train with early booking

I've always found CTA flights, Istanbul to Ercan reliable and last May were even serving alcohol! Only once was I delayed when the elastic band broke from the propeller whilst been wound up! Richard

"Cliff - you can get both CTA & Turkish flights from Istanbul (IST) to Ercan." I checked the prices for TKY Ist to Ercan and it was astronomical. It was more than Manchester to Ercan. I think I am going to go TKY Manchester to Ercan as the transfer times using BA and CTA/TKY are too long. I hate sitting around in airports and the thought of 4hrs one way and 5-6 the other way doesn't appeal. I would sooner drive to Manchester. I have often flown into Larnaca but the prices from Newcastle have got a bit silly and there are fewer options.

I have booked flights from IST Attaturk to Ercan as we are staying a couple of days in Istanbul on the way over in August & paid £25. I think with KTHY you have to book way in advance to get cheaper. I booked in September & there seemed to be at least a couple of flights each day & reasonably priced.
