I read in the paper that they are taking clothes to the people of Guzelyurt. I really need to clear out some clothes and would happily donate if anyone can tell me how to get them to the right people. Anyone help? Thanks

Received this via Anglo Turkish Ass this am.

Get spring cleaning done early.

Can you help the victims of the Guzelyurt flood?

The people desperately need basic essentials, especially clothing. The ATA would like to help the other organisations and the government who are trying to cover the people’s losses.

Donations of clothing etc., (not cash) can be left with the director of Hasan Cafer Primary school in Karakum Dereboyu Ave.

(From Girne pass Lemar and the speed camera, after 100-150 meters you'll see a butcher on the corner on your right. Turn right and go straight. The school is on the road, signboards will help you).

The other point is the school is opened on Mondays but half day, till noon

Those Members living in Lefkoşa do not need to take the clothing or the donations to Girne. They can take it to the Cyprus Turkish Red Crescent Headquarter, which is in Müfit Güleroğlu Ave. No.4, Köşklüçiftlik, near the Ledra Palace Gate.

Gazza,

When all that rain was coming down, Guzelyurt got a big flood of it. Alot of houses and shops got flooded.

I know that one shop owned by a friend of mine over there lost 70,000 TL worth of stock during the rain!

I am sure there will be plenty of folk who can donate a few small things that no longer fit, or redundant house hold items that will be usefull to others.

I believe that you can phone the welfare officer of the red crescent Mr. Suleyman Kibcak 0533 868 0454. I got this info by word of mouth, I hope it is correct. I intend to ring him tomrrow myself.

Msg. 8,

Sorry misleading information. They do not collect them but can be left at Ataturk Sports Complex at Guzelyurt.

We left a bag of clothes this morning at Hasan Cafer Primary school in Karakum Dereboyu Ave. It is school holidays for two weeks so as I understand it the school will be open today, Monday until 12.00 noon and next Monday until noon.

Every little will help these desperate people.

I guess if you live near Guzelyurt, you can take things to the Social Services department during office hours - or maybe leave on the doorstep (they might not like that). For people this end, then the ATA advise is good.

I know that SOS took a loade of stuff and other charities are helping out, but with it being such a huge problem, every little bit we can do, either by way of clothing or giving money through banks and Telsim etc, all helps to reduce the awful human misery those poor folk endured.
