Lilli,

Perhaps they hate because theyhave been brain washed or dont know the full story.I try to keep an open mind on things Cyprus, but after the events of the last few weeks i am finding it extremeley difficult to keep a lid on it,

Paul.

Why don't a few folk on this site post comments on the Cyprus Mail article. I often do, but not today - haven't time. It makes me so angry that people willnot admit to wrong. It has to be repentance and forgiveness before any changes can be mad,e and all the while a whole group of people consider themselves white through and through, there is little chance. It reminds me of a Biblical descritpion of certain people as they are referred to as 'white painted sepulchres' - beautiful and clean and shining outside, but within........................

Poor Mr Ban Ki Moon - it looks as if he is wasting his time and money while such opinions abound.

you and me both love, lets see what the next two days bring. at least we have reached the world stage, that must account for something xxxxxx. Paul its been like we have been in mourning since the verdict, its awful here at the moment. lets hope common sense prevails but if Koffi couldnt do it what are we up against. Do the expats in south as they are in EU get a vote xxx

The cofee shop thing really does wind me up.As i suppose it is designed to do.What our friends accross the divide do not like is the fact that Turkey is now starting to dig in more and the E.U. desperateley want them in their ranks. To little too late though. Two states with recognition can be the only solution,

Paul.

Lilli, you talk of the world stage, but yesterday I spent a few happy hours with a Lebanese friend with whom I worked in Limassol 20 years ago, and who now works in Bahrain. He knows no more of the Cyprus situation than when he lived here, and like me, at the time, believed all he was told around him.

When I told him of the Orams case , and tourists, hotels etc, etc, he thought I was unfolding a comedy! He really had heard nothing of anything!

What we DO need is to make sure the World Stage hears all angles.

But let's take a bet on whether Tuirkey is still as keen to be in the E.U as they were 5 years ago!

I think if you look back when they said NO best thing , they shot the golden goose and will pay. They do want it all but they have tough opposition. never mind turkey the trnc are showing such strenght of character at last xxxx

I'm wondering if I really need to say this..

Please re-read the 'Coffee Shop' with you tongue placed firmly in your cheek, and a glossary of GC political parties, and a who's who of GC politics..

OK..The author is taking the p*ss out of his fellow GCs who fear that Ban [ UN Sec General] is another 'devil incarnate' ..like Kofi Annan.. who was 'in league' with Turkey and the dreaded Brits.. trying to 'sell out' GCs...

Do you get it,now.. ?! :'(

Oh, thought that's what you meant. I think the man treads a narrow line between sarcasm and bigotry. Still you have to laugh at most of what he writes.

I was going for Moronic M but I suppose you are probably closer to the truth.

Whichever ronic you decide to go with, you do realise that there are certain, ever so slightly biased parties that will enjoy the reading of the comments a little bit too much !!!

In fairness Patroclese is taking the mick out of GC's in general.

You need to read his stuff week in week out to understand where he's coming from.

While you're talking about the Cyprus Mail read Loucas Charalambulous and you'll find he's in the same vein.

Just look at the nasty comments he attracts to get a flavour of how the GC's (In the UK) minds work.

Nah, sorry guys but on this occasion sixems is correct. The writer, using all the language of the true hack himself, is definitely having a little lend of what he terms "bash-patriots", a term itself which clearly connotes an ironic outlook.

"Some of our bash-patriots have expressed the fear that Ban would resolve the remaining differences - if he can take some time off from campaigning for Talat’s re-election - and announce the closure of the chapter, which would be tantamount to the dreaded ‘interim agreement’. And an ‘interim agreement’ is the new threat, the phrase that automatically triggers bash-patriotic paranoia."

"LOGICAL consistency is not the strongest quality of the bash-patriotic defenders of the homeland."

I think this should be clear to anyone other than the bash-patriot fundamentalist GCs and other like-mindeds.
