If the photo from her passport and her new photograph has not changed, she would not need her picture to be countersigned. In this case she just needs an passport renewal form together with the relevant fee and the passport would be ready for collection within two weeks. If she visits the UK she can get her passport renewed the same day (appointment would be needed ) Victoria, London

billyboy you can print the forms out from the website I linked to above. I actually have to renew my own UK passport and also live in Kyrenia. If you wanted I could maybe print out forms for her and take her application along when I do mine. I was planning to check which is cheaper for me, doing it in the south at 142 euros or doing it in the north. Havent fgound out the TL price of doing it in the north. Was planning on doing it in next couple of weeks or so. Anyway if you think I might be able to assist you can email me at erolz@cream.org

Hi All When renewing a Passport in the TRNC this week I had to provide new photos and have them verified - the Downloaded Forms and Instructions will confirm this, for overseas applicants wishing to renew/apply for a UK Passport Abroad. The Fee for renewal has also gone up this month to 148 Euros for a Standard Passport. The Office in the TRNC stated 10 working days before it is ready for collection and they were very efficient and helpful. Sue.

You can also get the paperwork from the BRS, if she's a member they could probably help her out with the application. She will have to supply 2 new photos and have one of them countersigned - they are quite strict about the format of the photo nowadays. We got ours done at Yücel, they are in same road/side as HSBC & Sekerbank heading into town from the roundabout. These photos were accepted here and in UK. The form also has to be countersigned. Take the form, the photos, her old passport and the fee (If she was born on or before 2 September 1929 she is eligible for a free standard 32-page ten-year passport - that's the rule in the UK anyway).

Hi I did this just before christmas it took 8 days - I had 5 months remaining on my passport. Yes you did have to have a new photo taken and counter signed. You can download the forms from the link provided for you in this link. Its only open from 7.30 - 9.30 Wednesday and Friday. We got there at 6.30 and was second in the que, but by 7.30 there were another 40 people in the que as they do visa's on the same day. Price 142 euros, and it must be euros. Very easy - no hassle

Kazbo, The opening hours you quote are for visa applications only. The hours for passport application from the British High Commission website are: Consular & Passport Services: 07:30 12:30 from Monday to Friday. We were advised by a BHC employee to go on Tuesdays or Thursday to avoid the queues and we did. For more info check out this link http://ukincyprus.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/

I have just renewd mine and the photos must be countersigned by a professional who has known you personally for OVER 2 YEARS - I used my solicitor - if you have not lived here for over 2 years or cannot find a professional who has known you then the Muhtar can counter sign the photos . Mine was ready in 10 days . I had problems with the photo though as they are very strict now - no hair on face - no earrings - no glasses - the man at Yucel photography in Girne )near the HSBC bank ) is very elpful and knows the requirements - I had to have 4 lots of photos done !!!

Hi There is a sign to say that the only days for passports are Wednesday and Friday between 7.30 to 9.30. This has been changed from the times you quoted. I first went down on the Tuesday and was told to come back on the right day and the right time. This was on the 18th 2009.

Very strange because we picked my husband's passport up last Thursday after 10am and the little office (room 5) was open for business.

Re msg 16. The sign is in respect of Visa applications only so avoid these days for passport application and collection. I renewed mine in the North 2 weeks ago and collected it on Tuesday this week. I received a called from them after 10 days to say it was ready for collection. Very easy and efficient and I paid 143 Euros
