After the rain in October, a small patch appeared on a bedroom ceiling .. It is at the rear of where the chimney goes through the roof .. It has started to spread & is now quite large, the paint is peeling .. Could this be a type of mould that spreads .. The colour is a very pale yellow/green .. Any suggestions, waiting for repairs to be done when fine for a few days ..

hi harita you say it appeared after the rains.sounds more like you may have a slipped tile.or if you have flashing round the chimney one of these might have slipped letting the rain in.

Hi harita Best thing to do is get all outside work done first then deal with the inside. Once its seald on the out side then the loose paint on the inside can be scraped, sealed and repainted with a good paint

hi harita i agree with mess7.if we have more rain just watch the cieling dosnt start bulging with the wait of the water.if there is a low point where the damp is.it might be worth just piercing the cieling with a nail to let the water out.just put a bucket underneath to collect the water.if you dont the water could build up and bring the cieling down.just be carefull if you do this that there is no wiring there.

check your roof space there may be a pool of water feeding the damp...its will spread as water already in concrete.....your roof space should have been sealed,,..check that too....many roofs to a certain extent are decorative and depend on concrete roof sealing.....but i agree maybe flashing is problem.....on positive side if that only place leaking etc....

Hi clayton .. More like a Kangol hammer drill & 15" long masonry bit .. Tiled roof just for show .. hds.trnc .. Everything points to a flashing problem around the chimney .. First signs of any damp in 7 years & yes it is only in the one place .. Will be sorted, waiting for a few dry days ..

Hi harita just waiting for a brake in the wheather then it will be sealed. Will then have to allow ceiling to dry out before redecorating the water stains.

Msg. 5. Did that ( gave Braceys Builders a call) in October 2009.. Still waiting for their visit? This despite numerous phone calls to them and several days waiting in for them to arrive.. Avoid them like the plague!
