Anyone recommend a nice setting for a good Mezze in Bellapais. I am introducing six new people to the delights of "The North". I would like to give them a great introduction, with the "Whelm Factor". Anyone any good ideas! Thanks!

Do not know of restaurants in Bellapais who specialise in good and different Mezzes but can recommend The Archway at Zeytinlik or Cenap in Alsancak although a long time since we were in Alsancak.

The Tree of Idleness has a 'Turkish' night every Saturday. It's a set menu that starts with an excellent meze. There is usually a live singer and belly dancer. It is very popular with the locals and bookings are advisable. They also do a free pick up and drop off to/from local hotels etc. I have NO connection with the establishment other than taking family and friends when they want a bit of local colour!! Tony

I would also recommend The Tree of Idleness. You don't only have to go to the Turkish night to get the meze. For a more relaxed meal go in the week, your table will be bulging with all sorts of small dishes. Its a meal in its self. If you want the entertainment aswell then the Turkish Night is brilliant, but you possibly won't get as big a meze. Best to book for that because it gets very busy. Hope your friends enjoy there stay.

Best spot in Belapais is the Kybele in the ruins of the abbey - outstanding views and good food and service too (and not expensive) Mark

We've had a couple of rubbish Mezze's at the Tree of Idleness. Tinned veg,.. catering pack hummus and dips. Personally we think they are a tourist trap purely because of their location. As MarkP says, the Kybele has always served us excellent food, maybe a bit more expensive, but worth it.

Agree with Mark. Never been disappointed at the Kibele restaurant in the grounds of the Abbey. And last year I had the most superb cold fish mezze there. It is one of their starters but theydid it as a main course. And no, although the surroundings are fabulous, it is not expensive.

If you are looking for mezzes as in 12 or more you will not beat Archway or Cenap
