I was down there a couple of days ago. At the moment they're concentrating on the Lapta end. The line of the road had been leveled, and there was a constant stream of wagons taking earth away and returning with hard core. They say they will have that bit done by April, and it's looking good. They'll then be working at the other end, and apparently they're doing the preparations at the moment.

If you haven't seen the local paper, the North coastal road will be then finished. Over the the next coupe of years the two major projects are continuing the coast road from kaplica, eventually linking with the southern coastal road a little west of Yeni Erinkoy. I think there must be plans for a mountain pass at Kantara. The road up from Kaplica and down the other side is good and wide, but it suddenly narrows again towards Iskele.

There are also plans to dual the coast road from the end of the bypass to Lapta, a job that would probably be quite easy as the verges along there are quite wi

Hi, excuse my ignorance but will the new road meet up with the coast road at some point - if so, where - if not, where does it go to?

I assume you mean the Kyrenia bypass where it hits the Lofkosa dual carriageway. If so, the local paper reported plans for bypasses at Ozankoy and Catalkoy, which gives a hint where the Girne bypass might end up.

If you're talking about the Lapta end, it joins the coast road by the Erdener service station, which is not far from Escape beach
