Can you take a large engine for instance and put it into a small car, say a V8 into a Ford Fiesta, what would the laws be, in england you would have to get an engineers report then send it to swansea. what would you have to do here? would you be allowed? If i own an old range rover and wanted to put the engine into my fiesta, could i do it legally..This is something of the sort i would like to do as its a hobby of mine. Can anyone help.

Just make sure you don't take it for an MOT. Engine number will not match the registration document.

cyprusjoker I would just do it, have you seen what they do to a lot of cars here. Transplant everything even stero systems worth more than the car. Do they get stopped NO they dont get caught, Toots what you on tonight without me, Very funny though xxx

Mmmmmm. Wouldn't do that one or one like it. Far too much work. Once fitted a Ford V6 3000 into a MK1 escort.

Had to uprate

1. the suspension legs and top body mounts.

2. fit brace bars across the engine bay from leg top to leg top.

3. prop shaft with a cut and welded 3000 one - left the rear axle but did have half shaft problems.

4. brakes - discs, calipers etc ended up with different legs but can't remember what they were

5. Shockers

6. Exhaust down pipes. Had to shape our own to wind round steering shaft etc.

If it is an Escort you're talking about then I think its far more fun to fit something like an RS unit ( sierra or summat) -will still have to make some changes to prop etc but much much easier and it will still give a BHP/kg ratio that will make you smile idiotically
