Can anyone tell me the current shipping rates. UK to NC. Just a rough idea please. Some friends have offered us some space in their container and we'd like to know how much to contribute.

I had a qoute yesterday for 1 cubic metre pallet from a company called Migrate global, they are asking for £535 delivered to door in Bogaz.

This seems very expensive when you can get a 20ft trailer there for around £2000

Hope this helps.

Try contacting Jo Valentine I believe her rates are very competitive.

Contact Jo she is reasonable and yes that price seems excessive - I know with air freight we would not expect you to pay that much - less than £450.00 to Ercan from Stansted on the last rate I quoted (depending on actual weight too).

Jo's number is +44 (0)1302 729595

we are having a container shortly & got 3 quotes.

Each were asked for a 20" container, loaded at this end only, we box everything up & going from Lapta to Derby (UK)

Valantines was was £2900 ( sent some detailed info what to do beforehand that was useful)

Olaytrans was £2700 ( Used these 30 months ago £3000 for a 40" - went like clockwork - a 20" container back then was £2000)

Euromed was £2450 ( Had a recommendation about them so was going with these but the emails were in broken English so I wasn't comfortable on just what I was paying for)

Olaytrans rang me back ( follow up call ) & we did a deal @ £2500 - used em before so I know I will get a good service & at a better price than.

£535 for a cubic metre is a bit of a pee take compared to a container

Hi Jimmy

What would you charge me for a cubic meter box on a pallet to go with your container, i could get in collected from wherever you have the container deliverd to in NC.

Hi Jimmy,

Do you have any spare space in your container and when are you returning ?? We are going back to UK sometime in April/May and could perhaps share some of the price with you.

cheers

I have to say at this moment in time we "may" not have enough space for ourselves & have earmarked a few things to leave here "should" this be the case. I am not packing it personally so I can't guarantee the guys doing the packing would pack it as well as I would

Then again........ there could be more than enough space but I will never know the answer to that till it's 90% loaded.

The container is leaving from Lapta & going to Derby in the UK in 2 - 3 weeks. Not fixed a date yet.

(Wattys) Lets say yes you can put a cubic metre box on & then there is no room on the day - that is the gamble

(Vadiev) same thing................ might not be enough room on the day

The other thing I have to consider ( & this is my biggest problem) & I say this with respect..................... How would I know that you weren't sending boxes of say fags back (or even worse) with my neck on the line.

I sent 2 cubic metres through Jo Valentine as a share in a container and was charged £700 so 1 cubic should be £350 that was at the end of last year, so prices are current.

Jimmy I would have left the boxes open until you were happy but we don't return to the island to pack up until middle of April. Thanks anyway.
