i have just seen there putting in the poles today for a new speed camara just opersit ILELI supermarket so thats another one to keep an eye out for

The siting of a camera on that built up stretch of road certainly makes more sense than some of the others.

With the one next to the Merit turn-off and the one at the end of Escape beach, that makes 3 in about 1.5 miles.

Question: Are they siting more speed cameras because they work (revenue) or because they don't (they still drive like idiots)?

Vaughan, I have no idea of the answer to your (probably rhetorical) question. LOL!

I am sure you will agree with me when I say, to quote you, 'they still drive like idiots' along that stretch between Merit and Escape. That piece of road which is poorly lit and has more than it's fair share of pedestrians due to the proximity of hotels, bars, restaurants and shops has always been used as a race track especially at night. I have witnessed numerous accidents along there and, as you know, I am not even a full time resident.

If another camera will help stop the tendency to go as fast as possible (to catch up precious lost seconds) in between the two exisiting cameras then it will be worthwhile.

There's 2 or 3 more sets of speed cameras going up on the dual carriage way between the Ercan turnoff and Gazi Magusa. Just awaiting the second camera

i really hope the powers to be (and i use the term very loosely) install speed cameras on the by pass as drivers go absolutely mad on the "bowling alley stretch" its like being in the UK in the 80's with straight through exhausts and twin cam prams its very laughable and feel very sorry for them little loves !!!! bless !!! but someone will get hurt unfortunately !! please put humps or whatever (never thought i'd say that ha ha)
