Is anyone here a member of Cyprus Life Hospital, but NOT through the BRS? Or does anyone have a medical plan with any other hospital such as the Yasam? If so, any idea of costs? Thanks in advance for any help.

no harm done - it made my laugh actually, and suppose I deserve it a bit eh! Shame though, that no one seems to have their own private medical plan here by the looks of it.

Nope...we don't have a plan at the moment. But we do use a private clinic if we need to see a doctor. If it's something he needs to refer, he will arrange for the necessary expert to visit you either at the clinic or in your home, so you don't have to go driving round unless absolutely necesary. He operated on my hand last year after I injured it quite badly - saw me straight away and op was done within the hour. One hundred and fifty quid, including all the follow-up visits. Personally I think that was good for such prompt private care.

Think private health care is a "risk factor" of living here. Do you pay the costs and not need to use it, then wonder about the interest you would have earned. Or, not have cover and risk that you will only have relativley minor ailments that it will end up being cheaper to pay cash for. If you find you have something potentially critical you go to UK, if capable, and go to A&E. All sorts of permutations and I am sure the majority here have opted out.

understand all comments and indeed I think its not something that I would bother with. Had a small op myself done by the Turkish Butcher in upper kyrenia - he had me in fits of laughter the whole time and I came out thinking how great it was that, what would have taken weeks to look at and diagnose in the UK, he whipped out in 10 mins! Great stuff. Also been to A&E twice in Girne, one time dog bite, and the other when I was feeling just like death - both times they dealt with me quickly, and were superb, so if possible I would always get dealt with in the TRNC. However, I am enquiring for other people whose company will be paying the bill, so what do they care!

would have thought you might have suggested it was my brain, but no you didn't!! bless you It was just a small 'cyst' from a lump on my tummy (yum!) which was the shape and size of a pearl - perfectly formed! No tests, no humming and arrring about it, just straight out, and gave me it in a little bottle!

Just a few observations and comments about Cyprus Life Hospital. I have been using them for the past 2 years for a cardiac problem, and have received the best treatment possible, promptly, cheaply and with great sensitivity. My cardiologist there has always been available for appointments the same or next day, and the charges are very reasonable. The orthopaedic department there is also very good, seeing to my recent leg injury with the same care and concern. TOP MARKS ALL ROUND!!!!! Would recommend this hospital to anyone in need of medical treatment.

Pipie, Yes, they do have a website - http://www.cypruslifehospital.com. If using the Girne-Lefkosa road, you come to the the Golyeli roundabout, bear left and then right at the first set of traffic lights/roundabout. 150 yards on, turn left and you will see Cyprus Life Hospital on the right hand side, with ample parking opposite.
