I have someone who is very interested in buying my car but he is currently still in the UK until July whereas I intend to go back to the UK long before then.

How could you proceed with the sale that is safe for both parties ??

He/She comes over to Cyprus, buys the car, pays you the money, buggers off back to UK until july or whenever after doing whatever with the car(not your proplem) and everyone lives happy/ly ever after.

If only life could be as simple as that Jim.

Dont listen to Yogi Bear, if you do not Jimmy transfer the ownership, then you will be responsible for any traffic violations occurred by the driver of the car.

I sold a car for a third person and we ( the owner and I ) had to go to an advocate to get legal authority to sell the car on her behalf.

Jimmy

What you need is a copy of the buyers passport( faxed copy will do) at least 4 stamps , then go to your Muhtar along with your passport, Car Reg Document and the transfer document which you will get at any bank. He will complete the transfer document and stamp it ,the cost is app 20tl for Muhtar. All you need to do thereafter is pass the document to the new owner along with the log book and they can then register the car in their name. Keep a copy of the Muhtar document as well as a copy of the Reg document for your own safety.

Hope that helps

yorgozlu and Hippo

I would suggest you take your dislike of each off of the board.

Hipps

The board has a bone fide member by the name of Yogi Bear so I suggest you address the person you are communicating with by their proper board name.

David may not be right. The seller and owner should both be at the Muhtar to sign the document.

Advice - Only sell if the person is physically next to you at the registration office - otherwise you will be responsible for any fines and its not like the Uk where you can duck and dive and say "it wasn't me gov.."

10 and 11 message rubbish. just done it as per message 6 no problems, Jimmy you also need to leave a copy of your passport for the new owner when they re-register the car.Keep a copy of the receipt of the sale dated accordingly.

The Muhthar's stamp on the tranfer form only lasts for one week after which will be void. Jimmy, I can arrange a transfer for the vehicle if you can get paid ok for the car.
