uk cars in north cyprus

i am thinking of buying a car in the uk and driving it to north cyprus and leaving it there at our apartment so we can use it whilst in north cyprus. Has anyone ever done this before and if so how long did it take to drive there, also what are insurance costs like and would there be any problems driving from north to south as mentioned in previous posts with hire cars.

there are some threads that you can look at - see Popular Tags.

its not a matter of insurance, its more a matter of registering the car with TRNC, import duty etc etc - I think its only a year you can have a car with UK plates, before you must cough up! You can't just bring a UK plate car here and leave it like that forever.

other people here will know more about it than I, but other threads have surely given it all before, so have a root around.
