Thank you, but I doubt I can afford anything like that and since I'm only renting it's probably better I buy whatever it is I need to add. I thought there was something you could get in Tesco for this sort of thing but I'm not sure what is was or if you can get it here.

for the kettle we use water out of 19 ltr bottle and it furs the kettle alot less than boiling up tap water.

We use a brand called Furnox.Hang it from the ballcock in your water tank, change it every 4 to 6 months. The problem is solved from the source.Problem is you will need someone to get it from B & Q.If you know anyone going back to UK tell them to fetch a shed load back.

Talk to Zihni in Lapta he has electronic softeners in stock and also in line magnetic ones both from Liff / Culligan. If you need help installing he should be able to get someone to do it too.

You can also use vinegar as a descaler, leave in and then inse out and boil the kettle and pour water away a couple of times before using again.

I added a dose of pool acid to my lower tank which was only 1/4 full, this dissolved and flushed through all the limescale. Took a few days to get it all through via the top tank, removing the limescale throughout the system as it went.

We don't use the water for human consumption.

White vinegar in the kettle, leave overnight, rinse it around, then boil up twice with bottled water. Distilled water in the iron, which can be purchased at the filling stations.
