Currently watching the Arsenal v Stoke game and I am seriously lost for words trying to describe the tackle I've just seen.

Ramsey's season is definately over. Arsenal players head in their hands.

The tackle was so bad, thy've refused to show replays.

We are the only team in the league where teams announce ahead of time that they are going to kick us off the pitch and then proceed to do so and it is just called sport and people say, "oh Arsenal are just soft"

Ramsey has most probably had his knee smashed into bits. Shawcross needs to be dealt with

It is no mistake that we have now had this happen twice in three years.

Ahead of our FA Cup match against Stoke, Fuller said just that. That they intend to kick us.

They refused to show a replay of it, and after rewinding on the DVR to look, it's for obvious reasons. You can pretty much see the lower leg already dangling and whipped around as he tumbled through the air before hitting the ground.

You need to see the tackle, players on both sides looked utterly distraught. Verml broke down, Fabrg was virtually in tears...all I can say is if you have the stomach for it then take a look...

-----------------

Well done lads, came from 1-0 down to win 3-1, Pity it was clouded by that disgraceful challange

I've just watched this on MOD, including replays and I don't believe there was any malice in the tackle, it was clumsy but Shawcross is not a dirty player and he was very upset, as he should be. I think Arsenal can go on and win the premiership and as a Chelsea supporter that's not an easy thing to say.

mess 9... I have to agree. I haven't watched over and over because it is sickening, but i don't think there was intent to harm in the tackle. It was more reckless than anything , unlike the Taylor tackle on Eduardo and the Smiths disgusting lunge at Diaby. These sort of things will always happen in football but we as Arsenal supporters have had more than our share. We have lost Clichy and Gibbs with broken bones and now Ramsey all in one season !!

Diaby and Eduardo have fought their way back to fitness with Diaby playing the best football of his career. Ramsey will be back !! Respect to Glenn Whelan who stayed with Aaron to comfort him while awaiting the medics , the Arsenal players were too distraught to help him. Also fair play to Tony Pulis for his concern after the match.Hopefully both players will fully recover. Ramsey physically and Shawcross mentally .Two fine players in my opinion.

Ramsey's leg is at an awkward angle before contact but the challenge is not a good one. Consequently it had every opp to injure someone.

A few weeks ago Fueller came out before stoke played arsenal talking about kicking Arsenal players

Maybe Shawcross didn't mean it (no one can say what is on his mind.) That he hadn't done it before proves nothing about intent.

This tackle was accidental, two players going for the same ball, no malice was intended by the stoke player, it was not a two footed or sliding tackle, the only people who think it was, are Aresnal supporters and the moaning Winghing Wenger who thinks that the whole world is out to get him, or the Arsenal players when somthing he disagrees with or things don't go his way, however we have to hope that all goes well with the surgery and that the player makes a full recovery.

The FA would be mad to take any further action arpart from up-holding the red car for sending off the stoke player involved in the tackle.

Mind you I very much doubt if Winghing Wenger will let this drop and insisst further action, I wonder what he would say if one of his players had made a tackle like that, Hmmmmmmmmmm!, OH it was an accident!!!!

Mssg 12,

Here's comments taken from the Daily Mail before the FA Cup game Stoke v arsenal

(as Fuller stated) "bully them". "The Britannia is like a fortress and if we play to our strengths I don't think Arsenal can deal with the aggressive play. 'It's been proved in the past that Chelsea and Bolton have roughed them up and tried to bully them.

'We can also be rough and aggressive.

Thats the attitude that they went into the game with...

I don't believe Shawcross broke Ramsey's leg on purpose.

However, there is a constant stream in the media about how you have to 'rough up' Arsenal to beat them.

Before almost every match against an English team, one or more of Arsenal's opposing team players are in the papers in a pre-match interview, saying how they will be 'too physical' and 'too tough' for Arsenal to cope with.

contd...

It's all about "making yourself felt", or "getting a few early knocks in and they won't fancy it". Going in a little too hard, leaving the foot a little late - most of it is subtle and not individually malicious, but it all adds up.

Teams targeting Arsenal for rough treatment, and Arsenal then getting more serious injuries than anyone else is NOT a coincidence! 3 Broken legs in 5 years, how many have utd or chelsea had???

For those who can watch the replay of the whole match. Observe how Shawcross puts himself about in set play, on and off the ball.

One incident with Fabergas sums up Shawcross and the Stoke players commitment to roughing up the Arsenal players.

In my opinion any manager who infers his team should rough up the opposition should also be taken to task.

If it was an accident why did the ref give a straight red?

Saw the match at the Paradise, and in my opinion the tackle was hard and late but then you get about half a dozen of these in most games. Very ocassionaly a serious injury happens and the offending player gets a lot of stick.

If the injury were not so bad then the ref would have probably only given a yellow card for the tackle (maybe red) but the condition of the player left him with no option. If you saw it, he took a while before producing the card and only after he saw the result of the tackle did he produce a straight red. Tackling in the Premiership hardly exists anymore and the risk factor has been greatly reduced but these things happen.

Unfortunately injury is a fact of life in a contact sport injuries happen

It has been replayed numerous times on various TV channels and the unanimous decision was it was unintentional

The lad Shawcross was distraught he has never been sent off in his professional career

Unlike the Birmingham player or Robinson of Bolton or Viera suspended again

I am sure all wish Ramsay a speedy recovery

Wenger was aptly named by his parents A***

He should learn to keep his mouth in check after a match look at the quick free kick in Europe

The Wining is not going to change anything especially if the individual was not as in Shwcrosses case going for him deliberately

With their easier run in they stand a chance of taking the title

The football is entertaining but the manager is not

Stoke in the 1970 suffered 5 broken legs in one season not least to Denis Smith(2)

As an Arsenal Suppoter ı wıll be unbıased and say no malıce was ıntended, but ıt ıs becomıng pretty apparent that teams are goıng all out to kıck us of the pıtch ,some protectıon needs to be gıven by the referees a yellow card the fırst tıme someone goes ın for a so called 'tough tackle' would be enough. Also there are two sıdes to the coın Wenger needs to sıgn a mıdfıeld enforcer lıke Vıera or a nutjob goalkeeper lıke Lehman, no one used to go andopenly say how they were goıng to kıck us off the pıtch when we had players lıke thatın the squad.

As I said in a previous post. If you can watch the whole replay of the match watch Shawcross positioning and tackles on Ramsey and Fabregas. One tackle on Ramsey should have been a penalty.

Other than the first fifteen mins of the game Arsenal were all over Stoke in my opinion Shawcross was very frustrated of Ramsey's continual attacking and running at him. Bearing in mind Stoke had a tough match midweek against Man City I would say the lad was tired. Certainly he looked very ordinary on the day.

Another interesting fact Stoke are third in the Pemiership dirty league and Shawcross is in the top ten most booked players. Arsenal are one off the bottom in the Premiership dirty league with no players in the top ten bookings. Arsenal are the only club not to have a player sent of this season.

I agree with Rodzilla. Viera was a giant. With Sol Cambell back and Vermaelen Arsenal do have the steele in defence with an attitude to match. An interesting next three weeks. AP

Andy Townsend

AT: No, of course not! It’s nonsense to suggest that. It’s two years since the Eduardo injury and the Gallas tackle against Bolton shows they give as good as they get. I didn’t condemn Gallas, either, because tackling has to remain a part of our game, or

else we will end up with a non-contact sport, like netball. Despite the perception that you get stuck into better teams, managers will tell their players to stay on their feet, and not to dive in. If you dive in, you sell yourself, they will pick you off and pass it around you.
