With the recent rainfall causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to property, motor vehicles and personnel loss, what can we expect from TRNC insurance companies. Have they enough funds to bail out hundreds of customers that will be no doubt claiming for damage or will we see them wriggle out of their commitments in the small print of policy's that no doubt promised the earth on purchase. I think the slimeballs will wriggle and run, this will be the first real test, can we trust them.

It would be nice to see them do the good deed but I would'nt hold my breath. Would like to hear fro Neg Nick on this one an expert in the field with inside knowledge, as for an act of God its rainfall/ flood damage at the end of the day but will no doubt be termed as a holy act by those that have to pay out.

We must have gone to the same school ( Hard knocks and pessimisem) I'm with you on this one will be interesting to see input from those making claims, or having dreams as the case may be.

I am glad,Ididn't go to same school as you guys msg 5-3.

However,regarding the insurance companys in TRNC,if you have a policy that covers you for floods,then you are covered,if not ,it is no different then having a third party insurance for your vehicle.

But,above all,at least in Cyprus people have got together to help the ones without that particular insurance,where as it is very unlikely to have taken place in UK.(if you know what I mean)

What utter rubbish, people get together all the time in the UK to help one another, and even when we move abroad we help those in our new country too. Perhaps in this time of need we should all pull together instead of taking such pleasure in knocking each others home countries.

I will be putting in an insurance claim in the next few days as the bottom floor of our place suffered flooding. I will let you know as to whether I am successful or not. Gotta say that the pessimist in me thinks that I won't get a single lira out of the insurance company !!

I live in hope

nmsg 8;

What are you now!!!Perhaps spokeperson for msg 3/5?

That is the only answer "whingers" but still here(s) would get.Go and work out the difference between whinging and being sincere and talk to me after,until then,it was a "A" and "B" conversation,so see your way out of it.

Oh,by the way,I was not knocking UK with my comments,but pointing out the difference in technology.

I guess,not inteligent enough to work that out!!!

In any case,I have done my bit and still doing it,ARE YOU???

msg 10;

I would recommend to you to put your claim in asap,however,if your policy doesn't cover you for flood,do please report it to (I think) belediye as well.

So far the Guzelyurt flood victims without insurance are getting replecaments,not a claim as such.

Steve Dickinson, Universal Sigorta, responded within hours and is sorting out our claim. Why do you automatically assume local insurance companies wouldn't pay out?

This is because a majority of them do not mention the extra perils and claus's in the policy so when you make a claim they say NOT COVERED

Please guys make sure you read and ask for the cover you need.

I work for Steve Dickinson in the Famagusta area.

We had loads of water coming into the house via the first floor terrace. Lots of damage to the internal walls and staircase. Replastering and repainting required to quite a large extent.

Luckily we moved from a well known British insurance agent to Iktisatbank Umbrella Insurance (at a much loer cost too). We emailed details of the claim on Sunday and by 8.30 Monday morning we had a call from Mustafa at the Karanalanagou branch of the bank. Things moved very quickly and by 3.30 pm the same day the General Manager of the Umbrella Co and two colleagues were on site. Within ten or so minutes we agreed they would pay for the damage to the house but the preventive measures were our responsibility. Brilliant result. Couldn't be fairer and couldn't be quicker. Well done Mustafa and UmbrellaInsurance.

I really expected to be told that the problem was a construction defect - which it is - we are delighted with the response. Well done Umb rella.

Great news trooper - we too are insured with Umbrella via Iktisatbank and have suffered some water damage to some ceilings. Will call into the bank tomorrow to see what they can do. We have made a claim via them previously and were very happy with the outcome.

europlus, "Head office of Kibris Sigorta" does not talk, people do. Which person at Head Office told you? What was there position? For example, if the cleaner told you then that would be gossip.
