Just been to get my Temperary Residency and arrived at 0815 and all done and dusted by 1030. Asked for two ( 2 ) years and was told , with a smile, yes. So thats it until Febuary 2012. Number system worked very well and the staff were very pleasent.

What, no moans about good service - now that is new. Have never had problems with temp residency myself, either at the police station or in Lefcosia - ok you get to wait but so must everyone else. Nice to here of a good thing for a change and thank you for posting it. If you go for 2 years residency do you get 2 stamps or just one? If you only get one stamp how do you count up the years of residency before you can apply for permanent? Confused on that one which proves I am over 60 after all.

You just require the one stamp. It counts as 2 years towards your 5 which are required for permanent residency.

Thought the rule was (may have changed since 18:38 today) that you had to have 5 stamps in your passport and have applied for your sixth. That being the case, you would only have 2 stamps (covering 4 years) when you applied for your next temp residency which would then give you a third stamp and a total of 6 years temp. Must go and ask this year when we go for our 4th stamp (temp res) and see what the rule is then - probably will have changed following the next election but who knows - part of living here and no moans about it either.
