I was given the following two names as specialists by my doctor in connection to thyroid tests. Haven't actually been to either. Dr Osman Köseoğlu 228 8617, or Dr Hasan Sav 228 2272. Hope it helps.

Most of these consultants do a stint at Lefkosa hospital, call them and see what days they are there. It is much cheaper than seeing them privately and you can get all your blood tests done at the hospital. We found the service excellent but you need to go early am.

I can highly recommend Dr Hasan Sav. He is my Doctor and is an endocrinologist and so specialises in thyroid conditions amogst other things. His mobile is 0533 861 8090 and a consultation normally costs 90TL. Go past Califorian on your left, then turn left opposite Universal Bank, go to the end of that road and turn left and his surgery is on the left after about 50 metres. He is there every afternoon from about 2.30 but best to make an appointment.

Hello All, Anyone have any updates on these previous posts? I'm also looking for an endocrinologist, preferably in KKTC, with specialist knowledge of thyroid conditions. Does anyone think that it would be better to try Istanbul instead? All advice greatly appreciated. Regards, Eddie

Never been properly diagnosed yet - that's most of the problem, as conflicting opinions have been offered in the past.

Hi, since I posted above I have been to Dr Sav, as I'd had blood test results I didn't understand. I didn't though need a diagnosis as I already knew I'd an under active thyroid. He did however explain why the blood test was inaccurate, and also scanned my thyroid - ultrasound I think - to check for any growths. He sent me for more blood tests - 120tl at an independent clinic, and charged 90tl for the consultation. I'd think it worth going to him before venturing to Istanbul, unless you know someone really good there.

Dr Sav is as knowledgable as any Uk endocrinologist. I have had many problems with myself and my daughter over the years. ( my daughter was born without a thyroid) .Since seeing Dr Sav i have total faith in his treatment and knowledge.

Dr Osman is really good,he deals with thyroid problems and diabetes he does mornings in the state hospital in Nicosia and afternoons at his clinic'Marmara Klinik'. Like İsmet says though, you definately need to call for an appointment as he is very busy.
