Two Muslim women who were selected by staff at Manchester Airport to go through the body scan machine, refused, on religious and medical grounds. They were promptly barred from the Pakistan bound Jet.

My one thought on the two ladies were,why were they allowed to return home without a hand search (i presume no search was done ) maybe they were hiding something and knew the scanner would reveal this.

Albert 5,what a silly comment you make,anything to protect the public has got to be a good thing,in fact,it was only yesterday that i came across two graves from the lockerbie flight,the ages were,female 26,male 31,not that age matters,but it made me think,when i got wound up at the airport ,it really is worth it.

I wonder what would happen to me if I refused to allow a search to be carried out by the authorities at a Pakistani ( or any other country) airport, would my Human Rights be considered, would I have any say whatsoever in it. The law of the land is just that, irrespective of race, creed or religion.

Believe me hold luggage goes through a very rigorous security inspection, probably more so than cabin luggage.

I can guarantee that your suitcase will have been opened and inspected on many occasions without you realising it.

My son flew to USA a couple of years ago, when he opened his case at the hotel there was a notice inside to inform him that it had been opened and checked by the airline, the lock was still in place !!

they do bomb busy shopping malls etc ,blow up markets or bus stops etc .

this is about airport scanners and safety onboard .

Regarding the failed bomb attempt on Christmas day that led to the scanners being brought in within weeks, Isn't it amazing that the guy who had the "explosives" on his person didn't happen to have a passport & people reported that the security before boarding the flight was virtually non existent. Why would that be ??

Is it ordinary x rays that are used .If so is there different power settings.Reason I ask is that in the past I had regular x-rays every couple of years for back condition .The last time I was told by my Doc that now they will only do x-rays in an emergency or as a last resort in diagnosing.This evidently is due to the cancer causing side effects due to cumulative radiation exposure.
