Can anybody please tell me what weight you can take per person on Turkish airlines flights from Birmingham to Ercan. There is no weight on the ticket or on the internet site, so your help would be very appreciated. Thanks , Mick

CTA are not very nice. They charged me £14 for being 2 kilo's over. I hope Turkish Airlines are more flexible.

On my last flight from Manchester with TK (NOT CTA) the allowance was 25kg, and they let me through with 29kg. I think it depends on what mood the check-in person is in and how you treat him/her. Most at Man are very pleasant, hope its the same at BHX.

Michael Msg 1 - As I understand it Turkish work with the convention of 23Kg in the hold that is used with most main stream international airlines with at least 5Kg in the cabin. Note most information like this is to be found on airlines web sites and your agent should have advised you when supplying the tickets (at IAH we do). Tony Msg 9 - Most airlines are not very nice about excess weight as it costs them more fuel.

Sue Msg 7 - This was a thought for you more than Tony - Most airlines are not very nice about excess weight as it costs them more fuel. Also these days as they rely more on computers which are verified automatically in the head offices the check in staff are allowed less discretion as to allowing overweight etc.

always fly KTHY, always had 25kg allowance. They dropped it to 20kg for a while a couple of years ago but not for long. Was 25kg when I came over from Manchester last October. Tony

The way fuel is going up in price it would not surprise me if they follow Thomas Cook who only allow 15kgs and ask if you want to pay for the other 5kgs. Other main airlines used to allow you two free hold bags per passenger, now they have reduced that to one per passenger, unless you want to pay for the other bag. The budget airlines allow you 20kgs but you have to pay for it. We are going to Mexico shortly and Thomsons have allowed us 23kgs because it is a platinum hotel, otherwise it would have been 20kgs. Minertor seems to have the latest allowance from what I have read. You could always check the day before you go and make absolutely certain of your allowance....

Tom So they should charge for overweight passengers then. I weigh 9 stone! I have always found TK so very pleasant and accommodating. Shame about the change of planes in Ist However, I am finding this year that YK prices are way over thje top. Perhaps they need some competition from Manchester? Tony

Tony 9 stone - maybe you can negotiaite some discount when on the plane from the pilot? CTA (YK) have too few flights so the best seats sold early
