Just read in the paper that if we get an agreement we will use the euro. God help our little country if we do.Having seen the price increases since changing to the euro on the south side how would we live? Interest rates have dropped drastically in the past year and us retirees are finding it harder to manage here. Why do they think the UK doesnt want the euro? Must be a sound economic reason or GB would be on the band wagon. Moan over sorry.

Heaven help you! It is a wonder to me how the sterling/Euro exchange rate creeps up during the course of each month, then manages to drop right down again before my pension arrives into my German bank account! No doubt some financial pundit can explain why?

don't be sorry if you use "oleander" and his alleged beliefs for your guide the guy once chortled he was "90% sure" of a settlement by june (2009) and in a world somewhat different to this one, where the gc's are actually gearing up for a compromise agreement 'spose the euro could one day prevail in north cyprus... along with modest gains in investment and of course property values but perhaps a reduction in character and the uniqueness of the north however I shall not lose sleep over such an eventuality

It will all end in tears I was on a greek island just after the euro was introduced it was 10% dearer than the previous year for the locals The point of your own currency is that it covers the basics of your economy China has deliberately suppressed the value of the yen to feed its export trade and now controls the USA's sovereign debt .Yes you are exposed as a small country but with your own country you control your destiny unlike the PIIGS(portugal ireland italy greece) their economies are not the same as Germany &Holland that always tie their currencies together

like natasha beddingfield's song, the rest is yet to be written monetary union of nation-states with different tax systems and " accounting practices"? well it could just succeed, but we will have to wait and see while the reason britain rejects the euro is as much political as economic: if it really is possible to separate the two! finally, the greek problem is only partly to do with the euro, insofar as france and germany will move heaven and earth to stop greece going under...short of giving athens yet more money to fritter away but perhaps the IMF can serve in lieu?

Bearing in mind that the euro is more in par with the pound than previous years i do not see change of currency having a massive effect... message 5 - " I hope and pray there is no settlement " Bearing in mind that in its day the UK played a major roll in creating the divide on our island and basically shafting the Cypriots, you now for all the wrong reasons pray for no settlement. TC's need a settlement, TC's need a future we need stability, we do not want to remain isolated & embargoed to the rest of the world, we want our children to have a prosperous future and to grow up with all the opportunities a GC or any member of the recognised world.

yes stonehouse, most tc's say they would like an agreement (but not at any price wouldn't you agree?) I think people want the kind of settlement, if it ever happens, that suits them ...surprise, surprise!
