I am coming out to Esentepe in just over a weeks time.

And will be using my laptop

Any advice please regarding remote access.

I will only be using my laptop for Skype and browsing.

Who is the best most cost effective provider.

I will only be using the laptop whilst on holiday so dont want to get into a contract.

Thank you in anticipation

I use a 3G usb modem from KKTurkcell, cost me 159TL and payed for the 90 Gigabit package, it is pay as you go so no contact, there is a smaller package for around 60 TL.

Korenia golf club,Village Bistro, Turtle bay Village. offer free internet connection

Used to be able to log on in Esentepe Hotel.don't know if you still can

You can buy one of those dongle thingys in the shops in Girne and top up like a mobile phone.

I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me would be able to advise you about those

3G would appear to be the way to go if there is no free wireless hot spot where you are staying... but I believe 3G reception is patchy in Esentepe.

I asked the same question recently and have opted to go for Telsim rather than Turkcell because we only need the network whist on holiday.

The cost for Telsim is a one of payment of 139tl for the mobile dongle and then the costs range from 15tl for 500MB to 65tl for 5GB.

With Turkcell the minimum you can have is 4GB for 60tl and i beleive their dongle costs about the same.

We are in Alsancak and our reception is excellent, not sure about Esentepe.

Thanks for all your advice.

I may go for the Telsim package unless some one post something more cost effective

thanks again.

We got the year supply for Telsim and are still using it 13 months later!!! We opted for the 3GB package thinking after 12 months it just went off, it would appear so far that's not the case. I went into the Telsim shop in Girne to enquire how long I had left and was told 16GB!!!!! As I got 36GB to last the 12 months starting last february and had been downloading music and the odd movie I was well impressed and as you can still we're still on line

Well I bought the monthly package of 500 MB for 15 TL. I use it very little but it is there when I need it away from home or office. that can last me about six months if they don't cut me off at the end of the month. I will find out when my first month expires on the 22nd.

If you get stuck without any internet you allways have the excuse to go to the Kings bar in Turtle bay village, Paul has free internet for customers, I regularly use it when I can't get a signal from my Turkcell dongle.
