Drive it to one of the Turkish ports that serve the TRNC, then get a ferry. Importing a vehicle is a daunting business and very expensive in terms of taxes. Below may be slightly out of date, but will not be far from the mark. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Privatly used cars and jeeps owned by foreigners may be imported on 3 main conditions; 1 The vechicle must be less then 5 years old 2 The vechicle must have a current tax disc and MOT from the country of origin 3 The import taxes must be paid within 1 year of the car arriving in the TRNC. The level of duty levied on vechicles except for classic cars is based on engine size and value at the time of importation according to the mid line valuation in Glasses price guide. The guide below refers to all cars except classic cars but is subject to change so best check with the customs dept in Lefkosa. Telphone 0090542 853097 Cars of European Origin less then 1600cc tax level is 40.04% plus $US 1200 1600CC TO 2000CC tax level is 40.04% plus $US 3000 More then 2000CC 40.04% plus $US3600. Cars of non European origin Less then 1600cc 65.12% plus$US1200 1600-2000CC 65.12% plus $US 3000 Over 2000cc 65.12% plus $US 3600 European Classic cars all engine sizes 22.14% plus $US 600 Non European Classic cars 57.92% plus $US 600

Hi pupaden, Why not drive it to Brindisi in Italy and then get on the ferry to Turkey, drive down through Turkey and then ferry to TRNC. Or you could drive it through Europe and down through Turkey and then ferry to TRNC. There has been a thread on this before. On the TRNC villa owners site there is a dutchman who has maps for doing this journey and advice for the journey. Best of luck on whatever you decide to do. The Butlers wife

Pupuden Worth considering, I think if less than 5 years old tax will have to be paid after 12 months or take it out. Also probably no choice but remove if over 5 years old.

UK Ferry - France - Switzerland - Italy (Brindisi) Ferry via Corfu to Greece - Istanbul - Ankara - Tasacu Ferry - Kyrenia. A fantastic and scenic route well worth the trip.
