Can anyone offer me any advice on what to do? My solicitor has all my tax money etc... waiting in her office for our builder to go and meet her, pay any outstanding monies etc so we can get our kojan. I have sent my builder and his silent partner (a surgeon who is highly regarded on the island apparently!) several e-mails, phone calls etc, as has my solicitor and they won't pick up the phone or reply to the e-mails. I am beginning to get a bit worried and am contemplating flying out to Cyprus. Obviously we would like all this done while the tax is still at the reduced rate! Grrrrr!!!!!

Also, my solicitor is saying (even though she has power of attorney) that she cannot get my electric meter put on for me, is this true?

Thanks!

RE: "Abaras Construction". If I'm not mistaken: I have seen the office in Karaoglanoglu (next to the Pegasos Bar/Restaurant), but noticed a couple of weeks ago that the office was suddenly empty. As far as I know builders are now working on the premises to make it another "China Bazar".

I may pass there today and will stop to find out if there is a "change of address" announced. I don't want to alarm you, but this is something your lawyer could do (have done) also - with very good reason in the given circumstances in TRNC (builders etc going bust and disappearing).

Anyway, I'll let you know this late afternoon - or maybe someone else will do it before me. I'm afraid in this case haste is necessary.

RE msg 4: Jock, sorry, I didn't see that they moved to the right - we usually park our care there, turn left and then head for the pub...

Maybe that's the reason then why they don't reply to emails and phone calls - no connections yet?

beware!!!!!

our builder Cafer Yugelgazi has done the same thing.

his office is still kitted out but he has not been there for a year.

We were in the same boat as you - Make sure that your advocate does not hand any money over until all the work has been completed and checked out. We paid £4500 for electric transformer over a year ago which never materialised. We then paid £8000 because he said he needed money to finish the work and we had a promise that it would be finished on 29th September 2009 (2 years late) We have now waited 3 1/2 years and we still do not have a house. The recent rains have caused damage but Cafer is not answering his phone. My new advocate is doing a great job trying to sort things out. We left the UK and now live in rented accommodation because we cannot live in the house we paid for.
