My wife and I both retire this year and we plan to spend more time in north Cyprus that we have been able to in the past, and I would like to spend some time sea angling while we are over.

I don't want to go out on charter boats all the time (could'nt afford to anyway) but might consider buying a boat to keep in TRNC for my use when we are there.

Can anyone advise me what is the cost of keeping a boat afloat in Girne harbour and what the waiting list for moorings or berths is.

Alternatively I might buy a small boat on a trailer so I can launch whenever I want to fish. In that case my question would be - are there many launching sites with slipways? Also can anyone advise me if there is any requirement to have a licence or certificate of competency in order to use a boat in north Cyprus waters?

There is no quick reply to this.

Girne Harbour-most unlikley already full

Delta marina-already full and waiting list

Boat on trailer seams your best bet.

Not sure about cert of comp but depends on size of boat if you have an SSR number or are registered uk part one you do not require any certification.

Of course there will be two new marinias some day but not really viable if you live in the Girne area

Boats are not inexpensive here

Thanks Hippo.

I look forward to happy days with a fishing rod in one hand and a cool Efes in the other.

Heaven!

As a keen angler and frequent visitor to TRNC could anyone please advise productive sites for beach casting, species and sizes likely to be caught and preffered baits and avaiabilty of baits?
