It is my birthday next week and have visited neither of the above restaurants, what would be everyones choice out of the two as I have heard great things about both but having a small child we do not had a chance to go out as much as we would like. Looking for international style menu rather than Turkish. Any feedback would be welcome. Thank you in advance.

Patina is a great setting, but the meals are small,Sunday lunch is presented very well, but not very filling. Try Rafters for a good feed...

I am looking for somewhere special for the evening, not too interested in big portions just quality of food and surroundings. I remember Rafters from years back when Verner had it and I loved it then but not exactly what I am looking for.

Parkview, we have dined at Patinas several times and have always had a lovely meal, it is a beautiful house, and gives a real sense of fine dining. For a special celebration it is a great place to go. A bit more expensive than most but well worth it for the ambience. Hope this helps

Patina was always my favourite for a special treat, but I feel that they are not in the same league as Midsummer House, super setting, upmarket, attentive service and terrfic food, a real treat. Rafters is great but for that special occasion Midsummer House is exceptional

Patina is very nice but not really suitable for a young child as there is little space inside and the child would have to be sat at the table all the time. Not knowing how old your child is it may or may not be the right venue. Midsummer is very, very good but again not really suitable for taking a young child to. It is much more spacious inside but being very upmarket not sure how they would feel about a child wandering around. It is a beautiful place and the food and service are exceptional. I will try and think of some places a little more special than the norm that would be suitable to take a young child to. Happy Birthday in advance!

I think people misunderstood, I will not be taking my child with me hence why I want somewhere extra special and would not dream of taking a 3 1/2 year old somewhere very upmarket.

Having dined at both, my choice would be Patinas. Something that bit extra special, where the menu at Midsummer House is not as good and more expensive. Both have beautiful settings though.

I have not got round to going to Missummer House yet either. Patina however, is in a world of it's own. Happy birthday in advance, I'm sure you will have a great night there.

Went to Midsummer house on our last visit to Cyprus. Whilst the service and setting were exceptional, unfortunately the food was not. I would definitely agree that Patinas wins hands down. The butlers wife

Parkview...in that case you have a good selection from the places mentioned above to choose from. Midsummer House is a large restaurant and when we went before Christmas we were the only ones in. Having said that it did not spoil our evening, the food was exceptional and this was reflected in the price. Definately a special occasion place. The staff are very attentive and you are made to feel very special. Patinas food is also very good and as the room[s] are smaller the atmosphere is more intimate. Efendi House is always a favourite of ours. Bellapais Gardens is a very cosy, intimate restaurant with beautiful views. Excellent service and food. Have a wonderful evening and let us all know where you chose and what you thought of it. ENJOY!

Thank you all for your input, I have been to both Efendi and Bellapais Gardens and agree they are both really excellent but just felt like trying something different. I think the winning vote will be for Patina so will be booking this for Next Tuesday. Thank you again everybody and will let you know my verdict after my birthday.

Just to let everyone know who advised me on Patina Restaurant I went there last night and had a lovely meal, my only critism is the place is looking very tired, maybe I expected too much but the paint peeling off the red walls did look very tired and not as plush as I thought it would be. Shame it looks like the place could do with a face lift. But thank you all for your recommendations.

Still love both restaurants and am looking forward to be taken to Midsummer House again for my birthday in April. I am sure Patina will be re-painting in the summer when eating is outside. Dark colours do mark easily but in candlelight I think the red room is lovely. No way would I say Patina is shabby and the food does the talking anyway.
