Clearly using this medium to gain free advertising is welcomed by this Forum, as is evidenced by the many posts relating to Guidos. It is also the case that this information is usually of interest to many like me who visit the Forum. What I cannot understand is why other Restaurants are not raising awareness in the same way. When I am in England missing out on the North Cyprus life style I would love to read about The China Garden, Patinas, Courtyard, Secret Terrace, Erols, Archway, The Ambiance, Five Fingers and many more of the restaurants we love to visit. regards Doug

Think there is a dedicated thread if you look at the titles for businesses.... Not just on this chat for 'all sorts'...

well, just to let you all know, The Cabin, Lapta, have a Turkish night every Wednesday, with live Ottoman music, if you fancy a traditional Turkish evening. Thursday, they have live latin music, Saturday, Karaoke with big T, Really lovely people, lovely food, and a lovely cosy bar/restuarant, it's well worth a visit.

I dont have a problem with forum members recommending a restaurant, albeit the Guidos fan club do go over the top at times. However when the forum is stuggling to keep up financially I don't see why places like the Taj Mahal should advertise for nothing when clearly Riaz pays for advertising his restaurants

Totally agree John, all of the restaurants should have to pay something towards advertising, there is no such thing as a free meal nowadays.

doug whats the differnce advertising restaurants as to pool cleaning , house cleaning, taxi to laranca etc etc etc it goes on. we do what we do to survive love, everybody advertises on here if its school , garages, car sales scooter sales pool products how the hell would we find out. This is a free forum to share, yes we do have a fan club as you say but so do most restaurants. the reason 44 is special is because most members come to meet me and become friends. Gues what I love it. you sem to have a problem with me re brasserie just call me 05338336911, we can sort it out

Personally I think that 'freedom of speech' includes chatting about good places to eat, good places to visit, giving the low down on the bad, and praising the good. In themidst of all this, people are going to brag about what they offer, and others are going to say whether they agree. As long as Izzet doesn't mind, - surely it is good the way it is. If Izzet objects, then he must say so - and if any restaurateur is aggrieved, then they must say so - otherwise I like having recommendations and being told of places to go (politely, of course.)
