Hi Lorraine. The Artemis is a very striking hotel and is set on nice beach. I haven't stayed there (it is mainly Turkish mainlanders). Famagusta is around 35 minutes away and the old city is a must. On the way to Famagusta you will see the ruins at Salamis which are also worth a visit. If you have time, go to St Barnabas, it is on the tourist map that you can get from the hotel. Others will no doubt assist you further.

I know it is wrong time of year for wildlife but you must take a drive along the Karpaz. Also there is a new cultural centre in Buyukkonuk, cannot remember name off hand but they do local craft displays etc. A bit further but Lefkosa Old City is superb viewing, we took friends last week and if you go make sure you go early morning cos it is HOT!!

think cyprusishome means Delcraft in Buyukonuk - run by Lois Cemal (also has a b&b there) - great place to go if you want to see how Cyprus was and still should be! There should also be plenty of wildlife to see too!

I would add that the ruins at Salamis are Roman & you can still see parts of the mosaic pictures of gods etc. pillars. It must have been a stunning town There is also an arena & nearby ancient harbour partly submerged, all lying there & open to view (no cost) Stayed there few years ago & swam from the sandy beaches along which are blue everlasting flowers & wild orchids There is so much to see.

Not a lot after the hunting season (if it moves they shoot it). There is more variety in Staffordshire. However, dependant on the time of year, you may be lucky enough to see migratory birds (particularly like the bee eaters)

There is the turtle hatching, August I believe, & there are wild donkeys in Karpaz which is still very unspoilt with many lovely sandy beaches.
