My daughter would like to marry in Famagusta - as husbands relatives live near there.Could anyone suggest a GOOD venue. We've looked at Salamis hotel and Lion's Garden so far but would like recommendations. Bellapais is too far for the guests I've been told. Is it possible to hold any part of the ceremony in Salamis Ruins? It sounded ideal but I don't know who to ask? HELP please.

You might get permission to take photos in Salamis Ruins, but the same rules apply as in Bellapais Abbey - they are both historic places and no wedding ceremony of any kind is permitted. But, ask the Mayor as to whether you ca take photos there.

I have been involved with a wedding in Salamis Bay Hotel and they used the outside area which was quite fantastic and thnen the food/reception was inside.

I have also been involved with a wedding where the ceremony happened in the garden of the bride and then a reception was at Bogaz. Depends what you want, but whynot contact Vashi on the ad as above for her advice - if you want a wedding planner that is.

Good luck with it all. And will you have the Kaymakan out to the ceremony or do that before????

My daughter will get registered before she goes (in England) then go over for the reception but also a blessing would be held beforehand. She did speak to Vashti via her website and Vashti said she only deals with the Kyrenia area. I'll find out if the Mayor in Famagusta can advise on Salamis Ruins (for photos and a blessing etc)

Who is Ismet by the way? (sorry I'm a newbie)

Aha! Forgot about Teresa, she might be able to help. Didn't know Vashti did only Kyrenia.

When you say 'blessing' - do you mean 'blessing'; as with a clergyman in Famagusta? If so, then that would be the Rev. Robin Brookes - or did you mean something secular.

I am sure Teresa will help.

Boney M played at Salamis ruins a couple of years ago so I am sure something could happen there. Photos there would be fantastic.

Have a word with some of the places in Famagusta square. Have seen many a party there but dont know who you would contact. A lot of the locals drive through Famagusta on a Friday night peeping all the car horns then go onto Lions for the wedding party after.

Ismet will know. He comes from that area and has a great deal of knowledge. He is often on this board.

Longbeach Resort is available for wedding receptions, call 0090 392 3789000. It's 15 minutes rom Famagusta and is a beauiful beach front setting.

Speak to Naciye the resort director.
