Hi Paul

There is a scuba diving club at Alsanjack. Cant remember the name . But it wouldn"t be hard to find. One of the family members works as a waiter at Ezic, He told me there are lots of fish to be found if you know were to go. I have personally seen porpoise or dolphins , whilst we were having a meal at the Bungalow restauant on a Sunday afternoon.

Paul, We use Amphora (Asim) for all the diving we sell. He is good reliable and one of the longest offering diving in the North also it is the only diving school that is BSAC inspected.

Book Amphora through us at IAH if you are in the UK or call them direct if you live on the island

Go to see Cengis at North Cyprus British Scuba at Alagadi. Lots of fish to see in North Cyprus, and great dive sites. Their Padi Dive shop is in Catalkoy by Tempo. He is the best!

Cyprus Underwater Explorers, based at the Manoyla Hotel on the Lapta strip 0533 8794421.This is a smashing husband and wife team who put the begginers at ease so would recommend them.Their names are Jonno and Carol.

If you need any other phones numbers i'll have a look in the Buzz book for you this evening.

The Dive centre at the Sempati Hotel - my son who has dived in many countries goes there for a dip when he visits. Took his last exam there, thrilled with some sort of eagle ray (?) he saw on his night dive. Very competent staff., trusted my two grandchildren for their first taster last year- also thrilled.

I use Sempati but all the dive schools supply cylinders and air at very reasonable rates, yep loads of fish if you know the dive sites.

Paul, as far as I know, in TRNC, you can only go on dives if escorted by a registered diving school (business), so owning your own air cylinder/compressor isn't much good to you. If you want one, I've got one (C/W boot and net) that's only been used a coupla times in the pool.

It's good to own your own mask, snorkel, fins, BCV, regulator and gauges and wetsuit; otherwise, and it doesn't matter how much experience a diver might have, chopping and changing gear can result in confusion, which ain't good! Also, you don't know what sort of gear could be foisted on you - e.g. has the regulator or BCV been checked, or serviced?

Are you planning a dive off Spurn Point in March?!!!

Try Cengiz (05338683165) at North Cyprus Scuba or visit http://www.northcyprusscuba.com email from there to.

I have done all my diving with him and some great dive sites with loads of fish also speak to him about air supplies.

Hope this helps.

Did start to finish with Drew and Caroline at SempatiTtook me from Try dive to open water Never a minute that I didnt enjoy. As said before its illegal to dive here without a School/Registered dive centre.Your obviously an accomplished diver So to save money instead of buying bottles /Compressor Etc Etc and still having to go with a dive school/registered diveMightr I cant see what your achieving?Use there faciliyies its not going to cost you much for air as that go,s with the dive.

Drew and Caroline at the Sempati in Lapta.

Always dive with them and a good time was had by all.

Went to the "Zenobia", last time was out there, great wreck dive.

I wouldn't recommend the 'Zenobia' as a dive for novices - several have drowned in it - the silt stirs up like pea soup!

Hi Have just re read a post dated 7/12/09 regards the diving without a diving organisation issue maybe worth a read and draw your own conclusions.

Paul: 'Zenobia' sunk off Larnaca yacht basin, on its way to Syria - maiden voyage, I think - it's lying in about 40 metres.

If diving inside the wreck - swimming through, best to take a 'pony bottle' with spare reg attached and be conversant in using it - that's my advice, cos you don't want to rely on 'buddy breathing' in such a situation.

There's quite a lot of info on websites - photos and videos and accounts of various peoples' experiences - just 'Google' : zenobia, cyprus

Paul,

It's around a mile off Larnaca Harbour, well worth the trip, but a full day from Lapta, 2 dives etc, lunch, beer, you know the score.
