| The Dutch based Turkish carrier Corendon, known from incredible cheap flights Amsterdam (Schiphol Airport) <-> Istanbul (Atatürk Airport), has announced to start 'direct' flights to TRNC with a one-minute stop (touch-down only) in Antalya. Owner Atilay Uslu expects to start the flights half May this year. Uslu: "We call the destination 'Noordelijk Cyprus" (Northern Cyprus - DC) to avoid political problems in Holland". | Thank you Hans. I will tell him. He will come to visit in September and probably stay for 3 weeks but we may go to Holland before then and if we do I will certainly get a quote from Tom for the flights. Sue |

RE msg 6, rowan: (...) could this be a cheaper route back to UK? (...) => I may be cheaper both ways, but it may depend on the airport you chose in the UK. It may be interesting to find out how much one of the price-fighters in the UK (Ryanair or another one) will charge for Amsterdam <-> Stanstead (?). I'll try to find out about ticket prices Amsterdam <-> Ercan (and if possible to book: Ercan <-> Amsterdam). As soon as I know more I'll write it in this thread.

On turkishliving.com some people who were flying Mancheser to Bodrum have received e-mail from Aegeanflights to say their flights for April have been changed from Corendon Airlines because they have concerns about Corendon's safety record. On the 4th March a Swedish pilot without a valid licence to fly was arrested at Amsterdam due to fly to Turkey with 101 passengers, the airline said he had been flying for 2 years and had misled the company.

A lot of my Danish friends use Corendon from Copenhagen to Antalya and all say what a good airline it is.The pilot that was arrested had in fact clocked up 10,000 hours of unblemished flying time and as somebody said on Turkish Living, I would rather fly with a pilot who had 10,000 hours than one who had 2,000.There office is about 10 minutes from my house and I have never heard any rumours etc.I guess that I would fly with them with no problem. (...) => Would you rather fly with a local Northern Cyprus carrier - when the (your...) plane was flewn by one of the directors of this local Northern Cyprus carrier - without a valid flying license..? Oh? It didn't happen? Are you sure?

It's interesting also for us in Scotland as Ryanair do flights to continent from Prestwick (smaller & cheaper airport) than Glas/Edin. If it works out cheaper or a shorter flying time for about the same, than going down to London I'm for it!
