You can get the stamps in the little cafe at immigration if you forget to take them, don't forget your photocopies of everything when you submit your application at the police station. When you go to collect your passport take a good book with you !

We have just done our renewal - it's 9.75 TL at the police station and 7. TL when you go to immigration to pick up the renewal.

message 7 - no idea what it is for - just seems to be the norm over here to give stamps for whatever you do.....but, we originally approached the Driving School - who apparently will do it all for you.....they listed exactly what we would need......but we didn't use them in the end as it was such a rip off - £70 each for them to do not very much...... We took everything to the police station, stamps included, which they accepted.......perhaps if someone goes without the stamps they can let us know how they get on......maybe we have unnecessarily paid 19.5 Lira - who knows?

You need a stamp on the Muhtar's letter, but he should deal with that. When you go to COLLECT your Visa at the Immigration Office, you need 2 x 7tl (almost impossible to get smaller) but if you forge, then you can get them at the Cafe, but they charge a little more. However, paying the Driving School indeed sounds a rip off. Don't remember any stamps at the police station.

Oh dear, sounds as though the Driving School may be in cohorts with the Police then.....ripping us off for a further 19.5 Lira...... Anyway, we have our 7 lira stamps at the ready.....perhaps we should ask for a refund of 2.75 lira each..... Yep, the stamps were already on the Muhtar's letter, so included in the charge for that....10 lira each if I remember correctly. I certainly would not recommend anyone to use the Driving School, all they do, apparently, is go and pick the finished item up from Lefkosa....the rest you have to do your self.....they are having a larrrf!!!!!

Yes, all the girls do is pickup from Lefkosa. Saves you the time. Current BRS Says... On residence its TL9.20 + TL1.30 on your local Muhtar letter. After 2 weeks you will be advise to the Immigration Lefksoa with the fee of TL175 +TL6.60 revenue stamps. For renewal= No medical, No passport photos, No revenue stamps.

Hi Tootie I think that the BRS information is slightly out of date then. We were told at the police station, 185 lira per person and 7 lira stamps.....and 3 weeks before picking up the finished item, although to be on the safe side I think we will leave it 4 weeks. But, we have a TC friend who will phone up to check the file is ready......and perhaps enquire as to why we paid 9.75 stamps each, which was readily accepted.....perhaps they had a lot of birthday cards to post and needed the stamps!

Renewed our residence yesterday and yes 7tl in stamps for each of us and 185tl fee each. You can try phoning 0392 611 1016 to see if it is ready to save on a journey into Lefkosa but nobody picked the phone up when I tried. Very helpful lady 4th door down from the application office in Lefkosa will check on the computer to see if your application has been processed to save you waiting. We went 15days from submitting relevant documents at the police station and everything went smoothly. I would imagine how long it takes depends on the number of applications that they have to deal with.

Yup -BRS info slightly out of date. I think the last comment of depending on no. of applications is so true, and I think that is why they are now offering 2 years - as it cuts down on the number of applicants for them to deal with. The driving school seems to be taking advantage of the misfortune of others. Personally I always like a bit of DIY especially if it saves money, but also it makes a good day out to Nicosia. Get your Visa, see some shops, have lunchy out, some coffee in Gloria Jeans or , w.h.y. And the system is so much better in the new office than the old one where even the stairway was crowded with visa hopefuls.

It's 7TL worth of Dagma (Revenue) stamps. As stated above, can be purchased from cafe, with a 1TL commission. I offerred normal postage stamps, the girl asked her colleague if they were acceptable, and she said no. What I cannot understand, is, if the girl had been trained, she should have known whether the normal postage stamps were acceptable or not. She obviously WAS trained, but, by her asking a colleague, it made it appear to me, that it was not her fault, that they were not acceptable. I know others have used normal stamps, but maybe.... THE RULES HAVE CHANGED. The day had a "Y" in it!

Oh my life.....it's the first time I have heard of a different type of stamp being required. We have used normal postage stamps in the past, and have our postage stamps at the ready this time.......not heard of special revenue stamps before. Will have to ask our TC friend to check it out for us.......oh well, it IS Cyprus......don't you just love it!!

We renewed about a month ago and used normal postage stamps. As with most things 'official' in the TRNC, it all depends on who you get on the day !! I went to the Girne Beleyedesi building yesterday to get licences for my dogs. The building and all offices were open, radio on, but not a soul could be found in any of the offices, it was like the Marie Celeste. I hung around for 15 minutes but nobody came back - unbelievable !!!! Paul
