| Hi Cath. No Problems at all with connection to satelite. A word of caution watch out for customs if its a new set they could confiscate it ! Make sure its not in its original packaging and carry a receipt with you . Loui |

| Why do you need to remove the packaging? if you have the reciept and the cost is less than your Custome allowance. I am flying into larnaca with a 22inch flat screen cost £170 from tesco. then crossing the border, still within my allowance. |

| Max if it is seen to be brand new and because it is electrical you dont have any allowance whatsoever ceertain goods you dont qualify . If they pull you in they will confiscate the tv set and charge you the purchase price as in your case £170.00 plus approx 50% import duty . Beleive me it has happened to me. I took in a tv set valued at £120.00 had it confiscated I went to the customs office the day after and was told that I would have to pay £180.00 . also bear in mind you are travelling from a eu country into a non eU one. | If bringing anything brand new and valuable in hand luggage it's worth the hassle to reclaim the VAT. Procedure is as follows:- 1) Get VAT form filled out by retailer 2) Go to VAT reclaim office airport side allowing an additional 1/2 hour before check in time with receipt and the filled out reclaim form 3) After passing through customs go to the VAT office airplane side and show the Officer the said purchase and all the forms you've acquired. 4) Another receipt is given to show at the foreign exchange shop and hey presto, 17.5% is given in hard cash! Well, that's LHR anyway! Richard |

| joebloggs - Yes, maybe you should have tried to bring out one of those great 6' things (or whatever). Don't worry - we took out a small (20", or so) T.V. through Larnaca a few years ago, along with a DVD player, music centre, etc. etc. and it was all left in the original packaging (that polystyrene stuff) and we had no problems at all. My advice is - just pack it in your suitcase and hope for the best. You would be amazed at some of the stuff we have taken out over the course of many visits, and, probably, saved ourselves a fortune! Good luck - although I don't think you'll need it. Jean |
