THE ORAMS business, meanwhile, is not quite over yet. Candounas is currently in negotiations with the Orams lawyers over the legal fees. The British court had issued an interim decision for an advance of £600,000, but Candounas reckoned the fees came to double this amount. Both would prefer to reach a settlement rather than return to court as this would be a costly procedure for whichever side loses, as well as involve a three-year wait. If the court finds that the amount offered by the Orams lawyers was adequate, the Meletis Apostolides side would have to pay the fees and costs for the new trial. cont

cont Most of £1.2 million Candounas is seeking in expenses, he said, was owed to other lawyers who had helped with the case. If he does not secure an adequate payment from the Orams lawyers, he and Meletis could end up paying out of their own pocket to settle debts to other lawyers. If this happens Candounas would go down in history as the only Cypriot lawyer who did not make any money from defending the rights of a refugee. http://www.cyprus-mail.com/opinions/tales-coffeeshop-it-s-my-way-or-highway/20100321

Actually i quite enjoyied reading all the article, not just the bit about the Orams and fees. Somewhat tongue in cheek and a delight to read that someone somewhere can see the funny sides sometimes!!
