A couple of months ago, someone posted details of an Orthopaedic Specialist in Lefkosa with a walk-in clinic somewhere in the vicinity of Lemar near the Kermia border. Anyone help please?

The doctor is Can Çobanoğlu, tel 0392 223 4800 or 0392 223 4232. I had extensive treatment from him for a ruptured disc about 18 months ago and haven't had to return. He is situated behind the Lefkosa Lemar. If you drive up the side of Lemar (the shop and car park on your right), turn right at the end of the building, take 2nd left (I think) you should see his clinic (house) to the right (North Easterly direction). There were signs on the road so keep an eye out for them. At that time he did a walk in clinic from 9am to 12 noon and appointments only in the afternoon. I have a feeling he is closed on Wednesday or Thursday. His email is drcan@kibris.net, website http://www.arsarthro.com.tr according to his business card.

Whistler, Can Çobanoğlu is pronounced 'Jan Cho-Ban-O-Loo'... just in case you can't find it and want to ask directions locally...

re msg. 2 I really need to go & see Dr Can. Can you tell me whether I should go to the walk in clinic, the first time, or make an appointment? I haven't had any treatment from anyone yet & I first need a diagnosis of what is actually wrong. It's clearly not a minor problem, but I keep putting it off.

Scruff - just go to the walk in clinic - that's what I did. I had been seeing Erhard, the chiropractor, in Catalkoy and went to Dr Can on his recommendation. Dr Can treated my pain immediately with some kind of injections, instant relief! Then he sent me for an MRI at Letham in Lefkosa (opposite the hospital) and when I took the results back recommended a course of treatment. He has a physiotherapist attached to the clinic and I had 12 x 1 hour sessions of laser, ultrasound and tens with her.

It was around 60/70 TL in September 2008. The 1 hour treatments with the physio were about 50 TL a time which I thought was very good value, each session involved 2 types of laser, tens and ultrasound treatment.
