depends on your agreement. But I very much doubt it! cost to replace your sand, would also depend on the size of yer filter & on how much whoevers doing it, wants!

No it won't cover this cost which is a 4 yearly event. The cost appears to £15 per 25 Kg for do it yourself and £1.20 per Kg if you get them to do it. (Octopus Pools quote - very good reliable folk) As you filter may require 150 - 200 Kg it's not in-expensive hence your pool cleaning/maintenance contract will not normally cover this.

Filters and amount of sand required also dependant on size of pool. Our communal pool has 3 or 5 (can't remember exactly!) massive filter canisters.

Keith, Filter sand should be changed every 3 to 4 years. If we were to include the cost of this, we would need to charge you from day one to take it into account. If you decided to cancel the contract after 2 or 3 years, for whatever reason, we would have taken your money for something we hadn't done. We do offer "fully comp" pool maintenance whereby repairs for unforseen failure of pool equipment, like pumps, electrics, etc., are included in the contract. This costs 15 pounds per month, on top of the pool maintenance cost, and provides up to 1000 pounds worth of free repairs, per year. The recent floods that caused damage to pool pumps and panels was covered by this. Vaughan Octopus Pools

Keith, Pool maintenance is a very competitive market. It has been made that way by customers who want to pay as little as possible, so the contract only includes the minimum. It is often carried out by a one-man-band who operates from home, with no overheads, and often only do it to keep them out of the pub at lunchtime. It is very difficult for pool companies with staff, vehicles and premises to compete with these folks. Pool maintenance usually only comprises the physical cleaning of the pool with brushes and nets, etc., and the addition of various sanitizers and other chemicals to maintain the clarity, quality and hygene of the pool water. Cost very much depends on how big your pool is and how you want to treat it, i.e. chlorine, chlorinator, silver/copper oxide (Zerochlor or Aligator), etc.

By paying as little as possible does not make it agood system sometims it is better to pay more and reap the rewards in the long term. i would rather pay a little more to get a better service in the knowledge that i am not going to get a big bill later on what do others think Keith

Keith, I agree with your msg 10. Some folks have difficulty telling the difference between "cheap" and "value for money." Beware of pool companies that quote you a cheap rate "plus chemicals" as this can be very open-ended and cost you more than a chemicals inclusive contract in the long run. Absentee pool owners should also beware that some unscrupulous pool companies make up their money by charging for ficticious tankers of water and burnt-out pumps.

Message 4 ceg 123 could you tell us if you dont mind what you pay for your pool maintainance and cover per month and what this actually covers and to what level of repairs will be done for the money you pay each month or yearly ? I thought zerochlor was reasonable at £50 to £55 per month for a 8x4 and £55 to £60 for a 10x5 per month. That would be for chemicals and cleaning.
