A friend just told me that Green Jacket Bookshop was closed some time ago but he wasn't really sure!

So if you can't find it there...

Hi Lukie

have you joined the BRS (British Residents Society) yet it is only £10 per annum and they have book stalls at their Weekly (friday) markets at The Pegasus next to Lamars & Burger City the books are second hand but the Kyrenia Animal Home has a stall and the money will go to a good cause - maybe if you have time to spare you could spend an hour walking the dogs for them - they would be so grateful.

Book Lovers are catered for in North Cyprus as Libby from The Garden Book Shop, 5 Fingers in Ozankoy or her husband are present with their excellent book stall at the Carpenters Friday Market on the West side of Karaoglanoglu, just off the Kyrenia to Lapta road a little before Bells Frozen Food Store. They have new books - from fiction and ones on Cyprus through to children's books.

The Pegasos Friday Market (next to Lemar/Burger City/American Car Wash) has at least two second hand book stalls of which one is run by Kyrenia Animal Rescue Society with Maureen & Christine in attendance.

Unfortunately the once excellent 'Green Jacket Book Shop' is no more as its owner Brian Ball retired to the UK.

But Svetlana in the Round Tower in Kyrenia's 'High Street' has an excellent range of new Cyprus books and some second hand volumes.

Green Jacket book shop closed down I heard, I love reading too and use the library in central Girne it's fantastic...behind the post office next to the BRS hut and you join for 10ytl for the year! No need to bring ID or anything! You can take up to six books a week and return when you have finished, lending is free and they also have magazines, dictionaries, travel guides etc it is really well run and has everything in alphabetical order and seems small but is really quite big once inside, open every Wednesday and Saturday morning from 10am-12pm hope this helps fellow reading lovers

Hi - The Ozankoy Book Shop will probably open very shortly. In with Bs'Hive - on the corner near the Mosque (used to be a Curry Restaurant) - Barbara is getting a wide range of books in - well worth a look.

If your out for a drive in the country on the costal road just outside Bogaz there is a very nice resteraunt called Moon over the Water which has quite an extensive library you just bring your old books along and swap them. They also have a DVD library and a selection of jig saws.

My wife has a good selection of quality second hand paperbacks which she sells on the Lambousa market (Lapta) every Saturday, at 3TL each. There are also food stalls as well as cards, antiques, prints, clothes etc for sale. Well worth a visit! Every Saturday from 10am till 1pm.

Apologies, message 6 was written last year, did not realise this was an old thread.
