We have been quoted £40 by our management company to do this and wondered how the prices compared in TRNC if we bought the stuff and did it ourselves. Cheers.

You could do it yourself for under a £10. Go to Marshalls and get a tin of paint and a brush.

Marshalls is also in Karakum but I like coban on the main road in catalkoy as you head into town, fair price & very good advice. 100% on his English aswell. Most people I know also use coban ie. professional decorators ect:, as for me well I use enough paint to cover the Island & only use coban very good people tell them Mary sent you.

Margaret I think there is a Marshalls in Esentepe Village - drive past the supermarket and internet cafe on your left and then past the butchers and its on the left. x

Marshalls is a paint manufacturers brand name, the shop in Karaoglanoglu is actually 'TAYF', all the shops displaying the Marshalls sign are differently owned businesses, therefore the prices will vary. There is a Yapi market in Esentepe.. the nearest good one outside Esentepe is Coban Trading, which is about half way along the road to Karakum on the RHS.

There is also a new Yapi (DIY) market if you turn right at the bottom of the hill down from Esentepe village towards Bahceli and Tatlisu and go on for about half a mile or so not far past Alkan Holiday Village.

The Yapi Market in Esentepe needs visiting if just for fun! It is like going back to the 50s, or even the two Ronnies hardware shop where you could buy fork handles! They have everything- if you can find it! Nice guys as well.

By the time you've bought all the paraphernalia and got yourself blathered from head to foot in paint, I advise 'snapping the man's hand off' for a paltry £40. If the workmen do come, just make sure that YOU have put the newspaper/dustsheet down, because most local painters/decorators seem neither to see, or care, about everthing else around getting paint, concrete, or whatever, spattered 'all over the shop'. As for welders............I won't even go there!

The hardware shop in Esentepe is great, if he hasn't got what you want, I'm sure he will get it for you, and very reasonably priced.
