We witnessed the aftermath of one of the inevitable road accidents on the Girne/Lapta road a couple of days ago. The ambulance was already at the scene and the victim (a scooter rider) with cervical neck collar in place was being gently rolled on to a spinal backboard by the paramedics/ambulance crew before being stretchered into the ambulance. What a far cry from the days where well meaning bystanders, totally ignorant of even basic first aid, would have to bundle the injured into their cars to get them to hospital before any treatment could be administered!

This equipment and a lot of the training has been made possible by your unstinting support of the Emergency Services Branch (The 112's) at their various fund raising events throughout the past three years and we thought this was a fine illustration of your achievements and a great time to say a big THANK YOU and keep up the good work!

Hope so! Last year's ball financed a state of the art defibrilator for Girne hospital suitable for all ages from newborn babies to us more mature folk. It has already more than proved it is worth it's weight in gold as the many people whose lives it has saved will testify.
