Where can we get a good selection of Fire Grates from?

Assume we might need on in the next few weeks at night.

Thanks

Slept like a log, woke up in the grate!

Try one of the metal works companies who will probably fabricate one to your design.

Richard,

Any idea where they might be in the Lapta area? or as far as Girne.

Thanks

McSteviot,

There is a good metal work place near the Merit in Alsancak they have a sign just as you go down that road.

There is also another one in Lapta who may be able to do this for you directions, if you come from Sempati up to the main road turn right take the next left signposted Lapta after about 100yards turn right, up to the top of that road turn right again as if heading for the cemetery and it is on the right.

McSteviot,

I'm taking it that you mean a fire front to hold back the fire and ash...

Make sure you measure well giving a little room for the grate to ease in... if it's too tight it won't fit (as the actress said to the bishop).

Even better make a card/paper template, that way they have no excuse for making it the wrong shape or size.

One thing to bear in mind, if you are burning wood, you don't need a horizontal fire basket to raise the fire bed off the base of the fireplace, as you should have a one inch or more ash bed to burn on. You build this up by having a succession of small fires to create a nice fire-bed. As it grows you simply remove the compacted ash or clinker that forms and press down what you want to keep as a bed to keep it manageable.

If you do use a horizontal fire basket you will find the fire burns too quickly and you will forever be cleaning it out as the ash drops through the grate.

Actually, I'm after something to put the wood in as it burns.

I thought this was a grate, but maybe not. Actually just looked it up.

Thanks.

Chris, is that for the turn for Chataeu Lambousa?
