Hello

I am a member of police staff currently doing office administration with the Metropolitan Police Service in London, and am looking for a secure job in Cyprus. I plan to move to Cyprus in the immediate future, but would like to secure a job, prior to my move. I would preferably like to get a job in Famagusta or Nicosia. I am of Cypriot descent, fluent in Turkish and would like someone to help me get a good job please.

Hello Emine, Welcome to the Forum! You should have no problem getting a good job in Kibris. You have an advantage over many of us...You can speak fluent Turkish. Well, You have the TRNC Government, Customs & Excise, The Police of course and I think Council/Goverment offices could really do with a hand in processing the building industry issues! Planning dept, Municipal, etc.

I think your best bet is to take a visit to Kibris for at least 10 days and start networking/applyiny etc applications etc...

Hope that helps

Good luck

Hi Emine,

Finding work within the government shouldn't be a problem as long as you know someone on the inside. The entrance exam are done in pencil so that the examiner/relative can erase your mistakes and put in the right answer in and help you to get that dream job!!

PtePike,

Yes it is for many jobs.

An exception being the Police. There was a report in Cyprus Today last year that 100 people sat a Police entrance exam and only 1 person passed.

Yes nearly all entry exams for positions within the TRNC government are written in pencil

with regards the police test last year or the year before, I think there was actually 1003 citizens who sat the test, 4 or 5 passed and the rest were given the opportunity to do the exam again!

Wonder if that's the reason everything takes so long to be passed from the government, once the minutes have been written, if someone doesn't like what's down on paper, they just rub it out and start again applying their own words and ideas!!!

Tim,

Is that a reflection on educational standards in N Cyprus or personal qualities of the candidates, do you think? I'd like to have seen the questions if the newspaper managed to get them leaked. BTW, I take it all the candidates were offered a job anyway?
