Does anyone know whether a hearing dog for the deaf will still be quarantined in NC? Want to bring my daughter's dog over for 6 weeks. Made enquiries at KTHY but as they've never heard of hearing dogs, couldn't help me! same rules would apply to Guide dogs so if anyone knows what they are please let me know.

Do hearing dogs have to go through the mandatory UK 6 months quarantine?? No problem of course if the dog is exempt but if not.... See below, copied from Kyrenia Animal Rescue website.

Good luck and sorry I can't answer your question, I only have cats

THE PET TRAVEL SCHEME (PETS)

Unfortunately North Cyprus can no longer participate in the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) after the 30th September 2004, following a ruling by the European Commission.

All animals therefore that return to the UK from N. Cyprus will be subject to six months quarantine.

Hi Zuhre

You could try contacting the quarantine place in Nicosia,

there telephone number is 0090392 2253551 or 0090392 2253751

there fax(they dont have e-mail) is 0090 392 2253536

I personally think the 3-4 weeks quarantine is merely a precaution, as I know somebody who 'sprung' her dog early if she paid the fees up front.

Hope this helps

Chris- (sorry for taking so long to get back to you, the paper bag kept slipping down and I couldnt see!)

Thanks all for your tips.

Chris -

I'll borrow your paper bag! I turn 41 on Friday and my darling daughters keep reminding me of my saggy bits, I tell them it's all their fault. Actually a bag won't do, I'll be wearing a bin liner. Still looking forward to Efes in Bogaz one day.

(Actually I am about to have a glass of wine, just had e-mail from my solicitor, saying if we sign another agreement with the builder, even though he didnt honour the first one, and its only going to cost you £150 an hour for me to do this, then maybe, just maybe...................................)

Hi Chris - Bloody solicitors - I'm fighting to get my daughter into another school, she's deaf, been out of school for almost one year due to bullying by hearing children.

Found perfect school for her but needs funding, tribunals, appeals etc could take up to one year. Solicitor's fees £200 p/h approx total cost between £6K and £8k.

I will do it myself, for free. No one can fight for my daughter's rights as much as I can.

Battle with LEA begins on Monday. Time for black sack to be replaced with killer heels and power dressing!

Good luck with your battle Zuhre. A friend of mine had a battle with LEA just to get her three children into the same school - she never gave up, although often felt like she was getting nowhere, but won in the end.
